Correct me if I'm wrong but are you saying that ceramic coating is useless? Or are you just isolating this statement to protection against motorcycles?

useful yan. they're supposed to last much longer than sealants. by exactly how much? i don't know that's why i'm asking

but of course it's just a super super thin coating so you can't expect magical protective qualities

yep. but just exactly how much longer? coz the sealant i'm using now (carlack long-life) is sooooo easy to apply i could do it every week

so if a "glass" coating only lasts like 3x better than the carlack then it doesn't make much sense for me coz as i've mentioned the carlack is super easy to reapply

That is kind of hard to quantify even by professional detailing standards, since you have a lot of variables to consider, and I don't think anyone has a controlled experiment to determine the actual length of time that glass coats will outlast sealants. From what detailers have said, if you have a black car, if you have the time, then probably better to get the sealant since black will need regular maintenance vs other colors. Otherwise, if youre short on time, have colors that conceal blemishes better, then probably better to get the glass coating.

Seriously? ... it's just a wax ... even glass / ceramic coating can't protect that well ...

glad to hear that carlack long life is easy to apply. but how about buffing it off? do you buff it right away or allow some time to dry/haze before buffing?

but then coating packages include..

1. paint correction of 2-3stages
2. some include interior protection
3. some include glass coating
4. some include wheel protection
5. plastic trim protection

some waxes soften..and when they do you will feel the ash fall or carbon particulates on your wax...

yes and no.

yes, let say meron ka 2 car, yung isa naka coating and yung isa naka-wax. if you leave them sa garage for a year without using them, well covered and away from contaminants and harsh elements then, probably same and paint condition lang sila after a year.

no, if daily use yung car i'm certain yung glass coating tatagal ng 1 year (or more) kung maayos pag-maintain. yung collinite wax hindi hanggang 2-3 washes lang yan re-apply na ulit. at the end of the day, if well prepped yung surface at marunong mag-maintain yung naka-glass coating, mas maganda condition ng paint niya. whereas, yung traditional na nagwa-wax, most likely maraming swirls since panay ang hugas at punas.

btw, wala ako car na naka-coating. but soon, one of my car will be coated...
