experts say that they use AIO to clean the paint first, at the same time layering some protection. if you think your paint is prepped enough, you can already use long life sealant. but still, using sealant on its own will not guarantee 100% protection as compared to using both. Long life sealant is 1.4k.

i use mothers clay bar and here's what i do: i usually cut one bar in halves and use 1/2 and save the other half for later use... i then make ball out of it and press it thin like a burger patty and spray about 2' x 2' panel with the QD spray (showtime) and slide the clay left-right, up-down without any pressure, i just let it slide until it smoothly sliding, then fold it and make a ball again and thin patty-like... when i see the clay becomes rough or it does not smoothly slide, then that's the time you discard it... also when you drop the clay, don't use it anymore as this might scratch the surface of the car... 1 bar of new clay is more than enough for 3 ave size car (sedan), but on my SUV, i always use a new half every 6 months and discard it after... My Chevy Cruze is getting released this coming week.
Is there anything that I should do after getting it? (Detailing wise?)
should i have it washed right away?
have it washed n waxed waxed within a week of having it?
or straight to a detailer?
btw the car will be black.

December 4th, 2010 11:51 PM #1016Hi everyone, newbie here sa detailing and getting pretty much interested with it. I've been reading thu the pages on detailing for newbies kasi di ko mabasa lahat sa sobrang haba kaya di ko ma extract lahat ng info.. medyo overwhelming narin sa dami ng "terms" na ginagamit.. anyways, marami narin ako natutunan so first let me say Thank You for sharing your knowledge.
Now, I just got a ford fiesta and hope I'd be able to preserve its beauty kaya sobrang naging interested ako sa detailing stuff na to... and also, I have a 2006 everest na medyo napabayaan na ang paint, gusto ko sana gawing project ko yun, baka sakali kasi ma maayos ko at matuto narin at the same time. hehe..
So far, may mga nabili na ako na mga detailing stuff but mukang mali yata yung iba.. anyways.. these are..
- Microtex washmitt
- washmitt from ACE hardware
- Microtex kit ( yung may pink, purple at chammy )
- Microtex duster
- micromagic applicator pads
- formula 1 pva chamois
- sponge
- Elevo Water mark remover
- f21 car polish
- formula 1 carnauba car wax
- formula 1 carnauba gold clear coat car wax
- formula 1 wash and wax shampoo
- collinite 476s (sa monday pa dating from autobisyo)
- auto gard rain repellant
- formula 1 scratch out
- Armor all original
- Armor all extreme Tire Shine
- turle wax rubbing compound
... as you can see mukang marami akong maling nabili na products... I'm still looking for "Optimum car wax" but still no luck in finding one, also in my list is a clay (Microtex?). any recommendations mga sir? ano ba sa mga to ang dapat kong gamitin at wag gamitin? basic steps sana para sa pag maintain ko nung new car and likewise anong magandang approach para naman dun sa everest ko na medyo napabayaan ang paint. Thanks again and more power!

For tomorrow's EB, baka may gusto bumili nung pressure washer ko? 4500 na lang, with gun (iba pa yung kasama niyang long spray gun). Few months pa lang, great condition. Dalhin ko na lang bukas just in case may interested.
Sa mga pupunta bukas, maraming way around - from fairview/project8/north area, mag sauyo road (for those coming from Fairview) and then Mindanao-EDSA-Aurora-Katipunan. Mga galing south, wala masyado problema.

December 5th, 2010 04:45 AM #1020For maintenance washmitt, shampoo and Microtex Elite would already be good to prevent causing more swirls, if you already have swirls SwirlX would be nice and for protection any wax would be good but some OTC waxes would require more frequent waxing than some premium waxes, sealants can also help but might be more finicky and a bit more expensive, its also good to get a duster to maintain the finish so you don't have to wash too often and always keep a MF and QD in the car at all times to remove bird droppings and tree saps
