For washing the car, you need at least the following:
    1) Microtex Washmitt
    2) Microtex Chamois (non-rubber) or the Elite drying towel.
    3) shampoo (microtex is good. hehe.)

    For waxing, you need...
    1) applicator pads (you can use the micromagic 4 for 88 foam pads or the microtex applicator)
    2) microfiber cloths (microtex plush is good for this) for buffing

For starters, you can opt to use the Nanoglos wax + Nanosliq combo

if you want maximum protection, you can look for Collinite 476... it's the (2nd) toughest wax we know of here at the moment... after Collinite fleetwax.

For quick detailing (i.e. bird poo, tree sap), you can get a microfiber cloth and a decent quick detailier (e.g. Mothers or Megs. Optimum no rinse is the best bang for buck, though)

For dusting the car, the Microtex duster is cheaper than the original california duster, but is just as effective. won't scratch the paint.

for other tips, other tsikoteers would have more knowledge about those (e.g. sealants and correction)

disclaimer: we're not promoters of Microtex products here, but they really are bang-for-buck, that's why alot of detailers use them

For maintenance washmitt, shampoo and Microtex Elite would already be good to prevent causing more swirls, if you already have swirls SwirlX would be nice and for protection any wax would be good but some OTC waxes would require more frequent waxing than some premium waxes, sealants can also help but might be more finicky and a bit more expensive, its also good to get a duster to maintain the finish so you don't have to wash too often and always keep a MF and QD in the car at all times to remove bird droppings and tree saps
