I just got a white dmax two weeks ago and this is my first time to own a white colored vehicle. How can one maintain the new-white color so it won't turn off-white? Kitang-kita rin ang gasgas since I brushed past a bouganvillea branch. I tried backtracking along this thread searching for a topic but after 20 pages maluha-luha na ako.
Any suggestions guys? I read the use of sealant on white cars, will this hide the scratches? Sensya na basic carwash lang ang alam ko.
how deep is the scratch? if you can feel it with your nails, then I'm afraid you'll have to have it repainted. Sealants work well with light colored vehicles.
Yes, it can be slightly felt with my nails. I thought rubbing could do the job. Is the sealant for swirls only?
I saw a turtle wax package with colored sticks tha are supposed to hide scratches. The sticks are rubbed over the scratches to fill them up and waxed afterwards. Anyone got feedback on this?
IMO it doesn't work.I saw a turtle wax package with colored sticks tha are supposed to hide scratches. The sticks are rubbed over the scratches to fill them up and waxed afterwards.
Rubbing compound is like sand paper, it will remove your paint if your not carefull
are you talking about the chip sticks that come along with the "colored" wax ng TW?
its absolute crap.
do you mean that sealants are used to cover up / remove the swirls? NO.Originally Posted by salonika

sealants are more durable than waxes but they generally serve the same purpose--for paint protection.
guys tulong naman newbie ako. sumabit yung belt clip nang phone ko sa parking lot at nascratch yung bakal/plastic housing nung sideview mirror. matambok yung scratch niya. what should i do. is this a detailing job? if yes saan ko siya pwedeng dalhin dito sa alabang laspinas area. thanks in advance guys.
HAd I known I would have coated the Dmax with sealant right afte getting it. Well, guess I could still do that. Any recommended brand of sealant.Originally Posted by dehadista

napagusapan na po brand of sealant, please take th time to read throught this thread... thx.
mgx8850: ano yung tinamaan? yung plastic housing ba? anyway, pics of the damage would definitely help.
sorry dehadista no digital pic to upload. yes yung plastic housing yung tinamaan. i can feel na may slight na tambok na white dun sa part n nagasgas(royal gray color btw of my ride). tapos kagabi i was driving home from C-5 na pebble yung likod ko ngayon may 12 inch na gash yung 2 month new kong kotse (sniff sniff), na OC tuloy ako ng sobra. Ginawa nung suki kong car wash nilagyan niya ng rubbing compound level 1(megs i think) yung sidemirror housing(didn't work). tapos yung gasgas ko sa likod umabot sa level 2 rubbing compound tapos ginamitan niya ng buffer(the spinning thing) pero di completely nawala. so i guess my question is did they mess up my paint kasi ang basa ko sa ibang mga post is uubusin daw ng rubbing compound and buffer ang paint job mo. should i take it to the pros like bigberts, or just leave my car's paint in peace and ipunin na lang yung mga gasgas at saka ipadetail. Pasensya na guys sa pagkulit ko. 1st time owning a car with my hard earned money(brand new pa).
More power sa inyong lahat!
well the "rule of thumb" is when you can feel the scatch with your nails or fingers its an automatic paint job, detailing can only do so much on a scratched surface. Using rubbing compound should be the last resort and should be only used by hand not by machine because it will remove the clearcoat if your not carefull. One of the good uses of rubbing compound is for removing paint transfered from another object.
guys, do i need to have wax applied (after car wash) first on the car before i could start applying QD in between washes? Pwede na ba yung Eagle One WAUD lang ang gagamitin ko?
Problema ko kasi is that i can only have my car washed sa mga neighborhood carwash, and can only do "dry" cleaning at home. Bawal po kasi mag linis ng car using water sa basment parking area. That is why i thought that applying QD and EO WAUD would be the best para sa situation ko.
Cardo: got a gift just like that. hehehehe.. IMO, it serves its purpose na din. yung nap is similar to the ones being sold sa Price-Smart.
ideally, yes. to bring out that just waxed look.Originally Posted by karl88
It's a good idea to have your car waxed na din after having it washed. then, like you said, light maintenance ka na lang afterwards. QD then Spray Wax. Samahan mo na din ng CCD before QD.
Syempre, just make sure na malinis ang surface ng ride mo. but then, sa weather conditions natin, medyo mahirap yun. hehehe
karl88: Yup tama si dehadista, have it detailed by a professional kung medyo tinatamad you can have it "sealed" using Klasse. Get a California Car Duster, and some Microtex Microfiber towels for your maintenance.
dehadista/ILD: tama ba, car wash and wax muna, then kapag medyo may dust na yung surface after a few days of using the car... misting ng QD then wipe with MF tapos apply ng EO WAUD? Yung EO WAUD, can it be applied even if the surface is dry? Okay na rin ba yung EO na QD? Mahal kasi ng Mothers eh.
Thanks.
Guys, question lang po.
Since I dont have a QD and stocks are hard to come by in my sleepy town. My ritual is to wash the car once a week. I use CCD daily then apply EO WAUD on a MF. Tama ba itong ginagawa ko or I need a QD after dusting but before applying EO WAUD? thanks.
