*Chikselog: im up with Ess' suggestion regarding using Megs APC, i've also had great results with it and what matters to me more is less headache. But for those parts, yeah you just clean the area with APC and then apply dressing, but take not that not all parts are made of rubber or plastic, some trims can also be painted matte black so be careful, do a magnet test first. Also APC's can really strip off waxes so be sure to treat area's touched with APC.

*Chikselog: well if you watch the original Karate Kid movie, thats what he did hahaha, literally WOWO. Well in the case of TW, especially if thats the super hard shell, having it on for a long time is really a pain in the ass to remove, so its better to apply it really really thin and you can do this by using a slightly damp applicator pad spritz with some QD. Also based on experience TW original and super hard shell are both easy to apply and remove when done per panel. Honestly for me if you would have to go through all the trouble just to remove the wax, then first try using a QD to help remove the wax, thats what i do with FK 1000temp wax and Collinite 476, really tough waxes to remove, using QD will greatly help in removing hard stubborn waxes. And if its still not enough then do it by panel, if it clings to the paint quite well im sure it has already bonded to the paint. Oh yeah one other thing, did you know TW super hard shell has some really light polishes?

Okay.. Hehe naliwanagan na ako sa simple green max ..

WHAT?! TW super hard shell has light polishes? Damn, yun pa naman ang plano kong "maintenance wax" para sa vios.. Been busy this past couple of days for our barkada outing..

No wonder nabawasan ng konti yung swirls at kumintab siya may light polishes pala.. And na-observe ko rin na after 1 day, when I drove it ng mga tirik pa ang araw (about 3 hours total), ramdam ko na nabawasan ng husto yung wax, kasi di na ganun kadulas yung surface.. Kainis nga dahil ubos na QD ko, mamaya pa lang ulit ako bibili and my dad brought the car with him today, and bukas na outing namin! I hope I get to clean it by the time he comes home..

So TW Hard Shell can't be recommended for weekly applications? I guess that leaves me with my Mother's Step 3.. Di pa ulit ako nagdedetail ng may Step2 and 3 eh..Last december pa.. I'm looking for a decent applicator pad since my ZWipes applicators are busted..

*madkatz Pasado ba sa'yo yung applicators ng Micromagic?

EDIT: BTW, How do you guys remove watermarks on side mirrors? Elevo watermark remover says it can't be used on side mirrors

yes pare. kasi may explanation kung bakit kailangan 50PSi ang tire pressure sa barko.

ang mga Genesis Coupe naman naka 45PSi

    Sorry OT

Meguiars NXT, Mothers FX Synwax, Reflections Carwax at Topcoat at Collinite 845. In my exp madali sila lahat i apply at i buff off. Good for beginners. Twice a month application to be safe.

If you're on a budget, TW Platinum is also very easy to apply and buff off, and gives a good shine. Pero mahina durability.

Note on ease of removal ---- Make sure to apply thinly and uniformly. Even the "easy" waxes mentioned above, if applied thick, will be very hard to remove.

*Chickselog and Mada: Well nearly all original formulas and waxes like TW super hard shell and Mothers carnauba cleaner wax to name a few, all contain light polishes, these polishes are really light that its not even quite near Step 2, so im also betting its also finer than cleaner waxes, so its actually ok to use those just not weekly i guess, the polishes are actually quite necessary to clean the paint, now i know some cleaner waxes already does that but the polishes and cleaners in these cleaner waxes are strong enough to remove very light scratches and surface contaminants, the cleaners and polish on TW super hard shell on the other hand is a lot lighter, its like a microscopic scrubs, you know the scenario when you have a really light scratch thats not really white and when you use TW super hard shell it comes out clean? it doesn't really polish it out, its more like the polish gets in and cleans what ever is inside the scratch, so when you said you reduced swirls by using this, unless its a really really fine swirl or scratch chances are you just removed any dirt inside or more like inbetween the scratches. Honestly its relatively safe, you could use it for the next 10 years and still have a lot of clear coat, i don't know about weekly though, but im sure using it every 2 to 3 weeks is fine, my uncles maintain their 80's MB and BMW's using TW and up to now they're still ok, you could see the clear coat is a little thinner but theres still a lot left.

Now why did i mention about it having polishes? well its just to give you a note to not work it too much or too hard, thats why for me its best to apply it WOWO or per panel, we all know despite how fine the polish is, the cut and clear coat reduced is directly proportional to the pressure we apply.

*Mada: Mothers, Megs, TW and Formula 1 all have 3 step systems, its where in most cases, Step 1 is used to remove moderate defects like scratches and oxidation, Step 2 to polish the paint to a high gloss and Step 3 to protect it. So lets take Mothers for examples Step 1 Pre-Wax cleaner is a light polish that cleans the paint white polishing out light scratches by leveling a small layer of clear coat or by smoothing the edges of the scratches, Step 2 adds nourishing oils that make the paint wet and conditioned as well as further burnishes the paint to a high gloss and fill what ever scratch and swirls is left behind, Step 3 puts on a layer of wax that gives a nice shine and protection, now what most people mistake is that step 3 brings out the shine and gloss, its actually the whole process that brings out the best of the paint.

*Veilside: both Jm and Ess gave really great suggestiosn, Megs NXT is a bit pricey and falls a little short of durability but its really easy to apply and easy to remove, if you add just a little more you can already get the reflections system which is a 2 step composed of reflections car wax and top coat, both also great in looks and easy to apply, but i like this for darker cars more. FX is also nice for only 950, is has good durability and also easy to apply great for metallic and light cars, with collinite 845, honestly its a good bang for the buck since a little really goes a long way and here is where what Ess said takes a huge importance that you apply really thin so removal is easier, it just makes sense that the more you put on the more you have to remove sadly putting on too much doesn't mean more protection, it just means more wax on you MF cloth and more detergents to remove it. I also like TW platinum ultra gloss, its look is quite near Reflections already, deep wet look, but i agree with Ess that it falls short on durability, thats why when i use this i always put on two coating with 4 hours drying time in between just to keep up for durability, but for only 500+ bucks with this thing you can't go wrong, plus the paste version can already last you a long time.

wow...at least i know that even waxes can still remove clear coat...thanks madkatz..i will not put too much pressure while waxing again.

You can buy a lot of Mom's products (FX included) at any Blade and True Value outlets. If you're in Shangri-La mall, you can get them at Hans Tools too.

*Mada: Actually the amount of clear coat removed is really negligible and is close to nil, and it is actually also healthy to occasionally remove clear coats that are oxidized. Let me give you an example, when i had my training in Megs Kamias, i also asked the same question, can cleaner waxes actually reduce clear coat and can waxing reduce clear coat? So the owner gladly provided me a demo using his paint thickness gauge, we tested it on an old paint, we used cleaner waxes Megs 66 Quick Detailer to be specific for about 10 times with only light pressure and we only got .01 mil reduction, of course its a different story when it comes to pre-wax cleaners, so in most cases you can use cleaner waxes that contain light polishes for over 200 times before you reach the actual color coat, given that you wax monthly you can wax your car with cleaner waxes for the next 16 to 17 years with cleaner waxes before you hit the color coat layer. Take not this was done using very light pressure, just enough to remove light oxidation and contaminants. Then we tested NXT, applied it on a panel also 10 times and there was no reduction in the clear coat, Then this is what caught me off guard, the owner used NXT which by itself has no cutting or polishing abilities, the standard foam pad and rubbed in vigorously across the paint only twice, take not just twice! and we got a .01 mil reduction, so bottom line is that is all boils down to how you properly apply the waxes, be it pure wax or cleaner waxes, and of course what we use to remove waxes also plays a factor, thats why we always recommend using a high quality MF cloth.

*Veilside: same suggestions with Ess, you might want to get some good quality MF cloths as well, Microtex so far has the best MF's i've tried here but they are really expensive, you could opt for others just make sure its soft enough and its nap are deep enough, also be sure you remove the wax by putting pressure across the paint not against the paint.

whew! 7am to 3pm detailing. don't copy. your senses dull after some time and you won't be so OC in detailing. one may become careless and put too much pressure, get lazy rinsing the applicator or pagpag and turn the MF buffer. soo tiiired. no machines.

Hi madkatz, I have another question ulit hehe.. I'm planning to go to BB tomorrow para magpa-linis, kagagaling lang kasi sa outing.. Ask ko lang kung ano sa tingin mo ang maganda for protecting the paint and maintenance na rin siguro..

    Wash and Double Wax or
    Wash and Seal?

I'm leaning on Wash and Double Wax kasi may cleaner wax eh.. Kung pupwede nga lang sanang Wash + Cleaner Wax + Seal + Carnauba Wax yun na lang..

And also maganda ba yung Micromagic applicator pads? Yung tig 88 pesos..

    TIA po!
