June 13th, 2011 08:10 PM #196Sharing my good experience with Big Bert's Sucat. I was able to buy a Groupon coupon, P 900 value for 50% off so bought it at P 450. I was thinking of having corrections made on our 2002 Adventure, which has a lot of scratches, swirls, and watermarks. Consulted with the one in charge and if I wanted to remove the defects, it would have to be the 3 stage process which included compounding and polishing. Unfortunately this will take the whole day and even more unfortunately it will cost P 2,800, hehehe. So I settled for the one which fit my budget, and this was the double wax. This will not correct the defects, but the car will be shiny, and I will get to see these guys in action.
So the double wax included, a wash, claying, tar removal, cleaner wax, and another wax.
1. The wash was not strictly the two bucket method, but close enough. They used different mitts for the upper and lower portions. A good idea was the tray in the wall which was the proper place for the mitts.
2. The claying may have took longer than expected, "ang dami pala overspray sir". Not only were there many, but those have been there for nobody knows how long...it was great that they were able to remove it. The clay was gray in color and the only lubricant they used was water...
3. The kerosene was in spray bottles and used on the lower half to remove the tar. More grime removed, again after so long, as in counting years...
4. Also watched Dallas win the championship while the car was being worked on.
5. I got to see a blower, rotary polisher, and DA in action for the first time (if indeed those were what I thought they were).
6. They dispensed the wax, tire cream, and other liquids in syringes. I thought there was a danger of mixing it up but they pointed out that the syringes had color coded bands...good one. The cleaner wax was applied using a rotary polisher, actually I'm not sure if this is a rotary polisher but it was a Makita with a model 999xxx something. The finishing wax was applied with a different type of machine, not sure if this was a DA, but it was smaller. They applied the wax by putting it on the surface and then going over with the machine while sort of stopping the rotation by pressing on it (I hope you understood that). This distributed the wax evenly on the surface. This was later buffed off with a MF towel.
7. A nice bonus was the wipe down of the engine bay, plus a little dressing after.
8. They then inspected it with a portable fluorescent light, they went over it both inside and outside the car. The one in charge then went over it again with the light. Good attention to detail...
The car now had a very nice shine and clean look all over! Though the paint defects were still there and can be seen with the fluorescent light, since this was not covered by the job.
Overall a very good experience, thanks to the guys at BB Sucat. First time to experience "professional detailing" and a very satisfied customer here. Would have liked to have seen paint correction, but it was out of time and budget. Would I do this again? Definitely, will wait till the next promo...now if only the 3 stage process was included sure customer here!
When I got home my wife even said that the Adventure was even shinier than our almost new car!

June 13th, 2011 11:15 PM #198Between the claying and the chemical cleaners of KAIO, yes, you'd expect those yellow spots to be removed - unless you're talking about etching in the clear coat or, worse, clear coat failure, in which case, only polishing (for etching) or, unfortunately, a repaint (for clear coat failure) will work. It would help if you post a picture, so we can see what exactly you're referring to
