May 10th, 2007 02:17 PM #462malabo kase mangyari na ang isang kotse e affordable, fuel efficient, fast, and durable..
you have to sacrifice kahit isa dyan.. yung iba meron lang affordable like norkis legacy.. so ano pa yung isa na pwedeng idagdag dyan? durable, fuel efficient o fast?
pwede ihuli na yung fast.. that is the least of concern of buyers.. unless gusto mo makipagkarera..in which case di dapat yan ang bilhin mo..

If YOU read back a little, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt and covering your a__ to give you a chance for constructive and polite contribution, and to be accepted by the e-community that has emerged from this thread.
Can I now IMAGINE that you have read the TWO threads through, enough to understand the parameters of this project?
Can you Imagine how you can now make a worthy contribution to design (even at the risk of losing your job).
When you are in an email forum, you need to use your imagination, considering the screens of anonymity. But even more so when you are in a DESIGN forum.
HOPE doesn't work without it, for imagination is the ability to see, hear, feel, and experience a good that is not there yet. We HOPE you can do that, then you make what is called a CREATIVE CONTRIBUTION. Imagine that! Then maybe you can tell us something we don't know yet.
It is good manners to knock before you inject. You don't need too much imagination to see that this is a startup design thread. You may have intended to give a vaccination, fine, but even vaccines when given too early can be lethal.
As I said, we are not contemplating conventional manufacturing. Read back.
This is an opensource DESIGN forum for budding designers, not the Wako R&D center, nor an Italian carrozzeria. Live and let live! :liberty:
That may be true, but it is a prejudgment (aka prejudice). OyiL happens to be an engineer himself, ICYDK. Don't you think he knows some of the math? In fairness to you, I don't want to say that OyiL's design skills are waaay beyond yours - not until you've posted your own stuff.
Now I see you're disparaging the coachbuilding capabilities of local mfrs. How do you manage to make so many enemies in one sweep?
Good for you and your job. But the current focus here is DESIGN DEVELOPMENT, not cost-cutting ... yet. Can you IMAGINE yourself going beyond numbers, into words, ideas, images of surface, space, texture, end-user experience? Can you IMAGINE the difference between bean-counting and cultivation? Between Cost Accounting and Pedagogy?
Since by your admission, you are coming in too early in the process, can you IMAGINE yourself getting out of your box and recommending alternative production paradigms? (I imagine that that is not within your job description to do so.) Can you IMAGINE that what we posters are doing here is not in our respective job descriptions either?
World-beating? Now YOU are on overdrive! It's only for the less able that we are designing the PhUV. If it beats the world, then that's icing on the cake. Read back.
That's correct. Back in 2003, it took me three months to design my own prototype vehicle and nine to build it, without overruns, if I may add. But without the "complexities of automobile manufacturing" of your bigboy firm.
I think it was you who was absent when the starting gun barked. We have just begun, and you are already taking potshots from the sidelines.
In case you forgot, designers and cost engineers run on parallel tracks. Cost engineers who have design aptitudes are rare; and so are designers who have cost engineering skills. If you want to run along the designer track, you have to use your imagination ... and be sensitive. If not, maybe you should stay behind your line until higher-ups say go.
OR, you could stick to your own track and start your own thread on "cost control issues in conventional bigboy auto design & assembly-line production".
To the reading public: The debate between cost controllers and designers is perennial in the industry, so please do not be alarmed. It's quite normal. By hein's own admission, he's coming in too early in the game, and until he can assure us that he sincerely wants the Tsikot PhUV project to succeed, make actual contributions, or even just exhibit a modicum of courtesy, the budding designers in this thread cannot be blamed if they perceive him to be hostile.

i was with engr. ric alano of norkis/ managing head for legacy/privacy group last night and he was abit disapointed with some comments here...
fyi, norkis started as distrubutor/dealer of yamaha motorcycles here in phil since 1962... main objective nila/market is the "masa" as such being used in visayas/mindanao areas.. wherein hanap ng "masa" yun matipid over mabilis
limited din mga pave roads sa province/most islands kanya ayw nila bulky parts at mahal i-transport/order pa from manila...
they pioneered the "multicab" soon avail narin sa kanila "recon-starlets"

Where'd you find this?

GET BACK TO WORK GUYS!!
ok din naman na malaman natin kung masyadong futuristic ang mga sketches ni oyil nsa thread na ito(o ha!). orly is ok with slab-sided design, but hein thinks local skills are not up to that. lets meet halfway, not too slab-sided..and not too aerodynamic...peace.
