And just how do you define a Filipino-made computer as against a U.S.-made computer as against a Chinese-made computer? Are Chinese-made Dell laptops American? Are Thinkpads still American or are they now Chinese? In the end, would their core functionality be any different?

But let's say for argument's sake, for whatever the term may imply, there is no Filipino-made computer. Did that prevent the growth of a robust local IT industry?

Do you realize how many people are employed locally in pertinent industries? I think the number may surprise you. Actually I think you will be shocked at how many local IT firms are servicing international accounts and at the size of those accounts.

The fact is that your reality is no deterrent to the achievement of Filipinos who are not bothered by such irrelevant issues. It is a matter of mindset. Those who aim to achieve will always overcome difficult situations. Those who are too timid to even take the first step will always hide behind any convenient self-serving rationale.
