"HELP improve Anfra 2007"

I have several points to raise on this issue. And these are as follows;

1.) The inputs to production are costly especially power. We all know that automotive and/or machine industries require lots of power to operate...

We have naman. the problem rin kasi natin is our definition of "success". Sa atin, you are successfull if mayaman ka, not necesarily if you invent something new, cutting edge, or useful. Basta mayaman ka.

Kaya sa power, we were the first to have such power infrastructures... pero nasira when Marcos started manipulating Meralco, Napocor, etc...

2.) Our country is a mining haven but we lack an industrial base for the manufacture of basic metals/materials most notably an aluminum, magnesium, zinc smelter etc. that produces ingots used for building auto parts. .It is now evident why the Japanese and Koreans built a nuclear infrastructure early on and why China has plans of putting up several of them in the near future...

Yes, we were the first to have nuclear with the bataan Nuclear Power Plant... pero may yumaman, he became sucessful, then everything is forgotten...

3.) Our labor cost is no longer the cheapest in the region, heck, Vietnam's rate is even lower than China's. So we must strive for efficiency more than anything else. All the more reason for the govt to promote the spread of the industries to other provinces where labor rates are lower than the NCR especially near steel mills like what happened to Detroit, the carmaking capital of the US which started out as a steelmaking hub. Vertical integration should be envisioned early on in this direction.

One such problem with our laborers is that they like drinking at night, then ang daming absentism on Monday morning. We have this problem sa mga workers namin sa construction. Minsan lasing pa sa work... then kapag may work, strike naman sila ng strike... kaya we actually did have the industries early on before china ever did... we WERE given the chance in the past, but we blew it. Kasi nga ang definition ng success is "yumaman ka!" The workeres wanted na yumaman sila, kaya strike ng strike. Kapag nagsweldo, feeling mayaman, uubusin sa Gin, tapos, feeling mayaman, hindi na papasok... many of those who ran factories here, left the country.

ang mga OFWs natin, when they go abroad, they seem to work harder. They dont do that there. Our workers are talented pa naman, pero sayang kasi many have destroyed their image here in the Philippines.

Vertical Integration is what happened in Iligan City, with the National Steel Corporation being the central thing there, and so many industries moving around it... Something happened though and when National Steel Corp went down, so did eveyone else.

4.) In developing a viable automotive industry it is essential to have economies of scale to make it feasible to mass produce and thereby become cost competitive. Since our market is still small and has not yet reached this ideal stage, the solution is to export our products beginning with Africa, Caribbean, small island countries etc. where competition is not as fierce like in the more highly developed markets and whose standards are not as high. It reminds me of what the Japanese did early on when they still did'nt have a large market.

Yes! Sobrang beholden tayo sa US market that we dont notice a lot of the smaller markets where we have a chance to succeed. We want kasi recognition kaagad kya US market and habol.

5.) These initiatives should now be set in motion while interest rates/borrowing costs are at their historical lows and efforts in this regard are much more feasible otherwise if the economic cycles change we will miss the boat again so to speak.

The sooner we start the better. But what's more important is to do it right. The Philippines did start early on, but we didnt do things the way our asian neighbors did it.

Before anything else, allow me to announce that we just concluded yesterday the re-launching of the Classic All Brand New FMC Jeepney in cooperation with Isuzu Philippines Powertrain Division at Cagayan de Oro City which was very well attended by Jeepney Operators, Bank and non-bank financing companies, Insurance companies, Local Politicians, and other related guests.



The All Brand New FMC Passenger Jeepney that was launched is the classic design of Francisco Motor Corporation powered by equally Brand New Isuzu 4JB1 Euro-Compliant Diesel Engine which is environment friendly. This project aims to reduce the air pollution by replacing the Old Jeepneys with new ones. FMC is very flexible wherein we can sell Completely Built Units (CBU), body only and/or engines and components only. The best thing is that everything is BRAND NEW!

Francisco Motor Corp. is reviving the time tested partnership with Isuzu which once took place during the 1960's to 1980's wherein the partnership dominated the market with the ALL BRAND NEW FMC JEEPNEY powered by Isuzu Enigne.

As for the ANFRA, the prototype was displayed at SMX so as to catch the public's attention and further, to get inputs, like what I've seen in the forum so far, for the development of the NEW GENERATION ANFRA. Like the predecessor, we carefully conducted market researches and studies before we came up with the final product for mass production of which had served the Filipino public for many years and was utilized by both individuals and companies like PLDT, GLOBE, etc.

The prototype that you have seen in SMX is the first prototype from which we will make necessary modifications both in functionality and design based on research, study and suggestions of consumers like you. When all of these are already actually implemented, we will once again showcase the NEW AND IMPROVED ANFRA. If the market would accept it, we will mass produce it. FMC currently has a maximum plant production capacity of 2,400 units of ANFRA per year.

Please bear with us with the long development process of the new ANFRA as we strive to develop a 100% Filipino world class vehicle. We are proud to share that the Anfra that you have seen at SMX was already 65% Filipino.

This is a bit of good news! Keep it up sirs!I hope to see Anfra again in our streets!!

But in my opinion why not just develop variants of Anfra and fit it will all brand new parts including the Isuzu powertrain...

Kung jeepney ok lang kung by order..

in my opinion kasi, the classic jeepney is another step backward to our attempt to produce a new and modern Philippine public utility or family vehicle..

Kaya if you are going to mass produce why not mass produce variants of Anfra..Kasi ANfra being a AUV can be used as a utility, passenger, commercial but also a family or recreational vehicle...

Kasi ang Anfra puedeng i-lock at iwan sa parking lot and can be fitted with aircon and looks better than a jeepney.

If the selling price of the jeepney will be almost the same with Anfra why not Anfra...

Honestly sir, are you going to revive again the--sorry for the word-- ugly design of the jeepney?

Check the threads in this forum...people want to see changes on the design of our workhorse...

Yung mga jeepney nga ng taga-iloilo at pampanga mukhang adventure at crv...

Anyway, these are just my opinion sir.

I heard that there is no more FMC... they already stopped operations.
Allied Bank daw already took over the properties... and all the car manufaturing equipments were already sold to the junk dealers.

You are somewhat correct in some of the aspects regarding FMC but FMC is just one corporation of the group of companies. The legacy and the spirit of Filipino ingenuity will always prevail.

FMC really stopped operations more than a decade ago because of the unfair practices and collaboration of Ford, Mazda and some of our very own government agencies. But the other corporation members, subsidiaries and affiliates of the Francisco Group of Companies still operates until now.

The old and rusted car manufacturing equipment worth Billions of Pesos back in the mid 1990's that we bought from Mazda to enhance the production of Mazda in the Philippines were really sold recently to the junk dealers at junk prices because that's what they really are ...JUNK. As we were never able to use them even once because after they sold us the equipments, they immediately breached our contracts and stopped supplying us with components. Can you imagine billions worth of equipment that were unused and unmaintained for a decade...? We can't even use them for other brands other than Mazda because that would breach intellectual property agreements. If we do that, we would be no different with Ford and Mazda, ...frauds.

Allied Bank had never been the enemy. In fact, as their name state, they had always been an ally. Dr. Lucio Tan (owner of Allied Bank) is a patriot and a philanthropist. He will never let down a Filipino giant who competes and defeats multinationals. There are just other ways to do things only if you think out of the box and set aside your pride for the greater good.

Now, in cooperation with another patriot and philanthropist in the name of Mr. Allen Roxas of State Investment Trust Inc., State Properties, State Electronics, State Power and State Motor Corporation, Francisco will continue to produce All Brand New FMC Passenger Jeepneys and later on, a new generation Anfra and many more Filipino brands to compete globally. Along side with these are Chinese powerhouses Great Wall Motor vehicles, Zhong Tong Buses, Wuiling vehicles and Yuchai Trucks and land and marine powertrains, XCMG Heavy Equipment and many more. All of these would be based in the FMC/SMC Manufacturing Plant in Talon Las Pinas.
