The point might be: "All theory... no practice".
Just like my professor/mentor in college... he's smart with PHD titles in many fields of engineering. But has no basic business sense. Wouldn't even listen to practical business advise from people around him. Always claiming he has many PHDs to his name. True but none of those PHD titles are in business management. His business went belly up in under two years.
How do I know? I worked for him & his robotics/automation company for nearly a year before I left.Last edited by ghosthunter; July 3rd, 2010 at 11:49 AM.

the importers are well aware of a possible duty evasion. lalo na pag yung nagpautos mag-import ay di taga-loob ng subic. o kaya e. nasa subic nga ang address tapos naka-ilang beses na magpaimport ng duty-free luxury car. nakapikit, di man lang tumimbre sa may authority. kasi kita sila e. aware sila doon. syempre sasabihin nila hindi sila aware at hahanapan ka ng prueba.

RE: pics: Kinda off-topic. Uncalled for, and borderline within forum rules.
C'mon guys... tumino nga ng kaunti yung usapan, eh... let's keep it that way.
You can't apply morality issues to sales. A sale is a sale is a sale. What the customer does with it afterwards is their own business.
Subaru, Lexus, BMW and Mercedes are aware that some of their customers buy its cars to drive fast. Which is against the law. Why else would they buy a car that is capable of over 250 km/h? Why don't those customers just buy the base models? What's the case that you can bring up against them for selling these cars?
What if a politician buys several Lexus or Mercedes SUVs? Should the dealership immediately notify the BIR that whatsisname is about to fail his lifestyle check? So... why don't they?
If there's suspicion of illegality, the government can subpoena the importers or dealers and force them to divulge records of who bought what.... so... why don't they? Why is it always merely innuendo and accusations of "technical" smuggling instead of a hard drive to clear out these places?
I'm not saying all importers are innocent... but simply, you can't say that when you sell something to a customer, you should automatically know why they're buying it, whose money they're buying it with (unless they're going for in-house financing... in which case, dealers will check) and what they're going to do with it. If any dealership actually practiced that kind of salesmanship, auto sales would simply plummet.
I can just imagine how ours would have been:
"Mr. Tamayo, why are you interested in a Ford Lynx RS? It's red. Don't you know that street racers and pedophiles like red?"
"Uhhh..."
"Are you going to use this car to street race? Is that why you're buying it with a manual transmission?"
"Uhhh..."
"How come you're buying a new car so soon after your last one? Are you using these cars to perform bank robberies? Is that why you have so much money?"
"I think I'll go look at the Honda showroom, instead..." :hysterical:Last edited by niky; July 5th, 2010 at 02:40 PM.

Ford kasi... it needs a lot of TLC. ;) Kidding aside, I don't know if other turbo vehicles have...
