    Old water pump.

    New water pump.

More often than not, water pump talaga ang salarin sa overheating. Ended up replacing the radiator (well due narin naman talaga for replacement) thermostat and radiator cap. Water pump pala ang sira. Pero ok lang at least my cooling system is top notch again.

GMB water pump 2,800 bili ko. Not bad. Magandang brand na raw ito.

Partly negligence ko rin. When the radiator was convered to brass tank, hindi ko na siya na refill ng coolant. Distilled water nalang. It took 2 years for the impeller to disintegrate.

Kaya lesson learned, pure distilled water can cause accelerated degradation of your water pump.

distilled water doesnt have corrosion inhibitors. two kinds of metals will cause bad corrosion..

Diba distilled water is as good as coolant?
Di nga lang ganon ka effective sa cooling pero hindi sya mag foform ng rust.

    lower boiling point - coolant
    rust protection- coolant

distilled is only for temporary use.

Ubos yung impeller.. usually pinapalitan ang water pump sa timing belt change.. gmb is a good brand.. pinalitan mo na din sana ng oem gasket..

After a month or on next maintenance, drain mo ulit coolant mo to make sure na malinis ang cooling system.. medyo rusty na based in your old water pump

Water dissipates heat better. Coolant(glycol based) is mixed to raise the solution's boiling point, raise water's PH, push corrosion back....& those in temperate regions, this will serve as anti-freeze.
Periodic coolant swaps are required as it will degrade & turn acidic over time. Check the PH level of coolant annually. It should be maintained between 9.5-10. If it goes below 8, swap ASAP. Your engine, water pump, radiator, heater core will thank you for it.
For those who are going for a complete engine overhaul, take this opportunity to go Evans Waterless Coolant & stop worrying about periodic coolant swaps. Evans CANNOT be mixed w/ water. System should ideally be free of water upon switching.
Evans coolant stops engine problems due to water
