Wow... nag recur pala ang problem... sa akin hindi na bumalik after I religiously followed the "turn-off the a/c a few minutes before turning off the engine" routine (minsan nagagalit si kumander dahil ang init daw - hehe). But iba siguro ang aircon design ng Camry kaya hindi kaya yung ganun.

    :boo:

Finally my car is back with them.

I waited for 1 hr but at least the guys from TMP showed up. I hope they can fix the problem.

At this point they still can't comment yet but they will double check what the last technician did with regards to the cleaning.

They were surprise that such smell exist in just less than 2 weeks after a complete cleaning.

It must be a bit frustrating paying so much for a car that's giving you big problems and a health hazard at that.

Anyway, I hope your problem is solved the soonest. If not, demand for a full refund and buy something else.

I really like the car but AC stinks is a major bummer. I really hope they get it fix.

I also hope that the others would experience the same problem so that Toyota would find a permanent fix.

My car is in the shop for already 4 days including sunday's but I just found out today that they have decided to pull down again my evaporator for cleaning and apply some ANTI-Bacterial stuff.

What they did last Saturday was to detail the interior as they think smell may have came from the Leather seats but today when they tested the unit it smelled so bad

I wonder if I can get my car back by Wednesday or at least within the week other wise it's Holy week already and my car would just stay in the shop

well, I think that theres not going to be a huge recall of cars. and also, the "problems" that they are reffering to is just small ones. but either way, if theres a recall of such parts then it will be fixed no problem. and free of charge.

hope they do the same thing in the Philippines (free repair on parts that should be covered by a Warranty).. specially sa current A/C problem si Rebel.

    aite, peace.

Lets put it this way they are trying to fix the problem but still can't find the solution

My car is now officially with them for 7 days and still doesn't know when it will be back with me

Here is an update I got from the service advisor. They pull down again the evaporator for cleaning...............now they also remove all the seats inside the vehicle and have them do a sunbathing.

Their belief is the smell is coming from the leather seats well here's my 2 cents

Has anyone here heard of LEMON leather seats that gives a AC smelly problem??? I can use the car with AC off and I won't smell a thing that is not normal. but when I turn on AC the first 2 mins I have to pinch my nose due to the BAD ODOR.

Anyways they are trying and trying and trying that I have to give to them.

But I feel there would be more complaints of this in the future from other camry owners.

Anyone here heard of HEPA FILTER?

My friend in Singapore is suggesting this as compare to the filter that OEM uses in the Camry.

He told me this is popular in Singapore to eliminate odor and germs.

Have you tried resorting to legal actions? Demanded unit replacement? Refund (why would you not want a refund?)?

    REFUND here in the Philippines???

Well I got my car back today for the sake that I can have it over the holy week and do a actual test.

    1. Strong sound everytime i start the car it's like a vent or soleniod inside the dash is wrong.

    2. When I use DUAL CLIMATE control the rear vents would give out HOT AIR imagine that for a camry.

    3. Many scratches on the plastic parts that they took off. Not taken care when it was taken a part.

    4. The Dash board is not centered big gap on driverside compare to the passenger side when doors are shut.

    5. Some rattles but very low coming from the inside of the dashboard.

Basically what the service advisor told me is they had the seats and other parts of the interior like ceiling do a SUNBATHING for 3 days.

But it's smells like a new car as far as the AC odor is concern but some mistake in the vents configuration I think and also lots of plastic parts that was scratch.

They told me the whole dash board was taken out also.

This is what happens to a 6 months old car that had to be fix for almost 2 weeks.

The whole engine bay is so dirty from dust.

I hope they would replaced the parts that was deeply scratched and fix the problem on the hotair coming out the rear vents during dual climate control the next time I bring the car back.......which is most likely next week.

I used the car today for a road trip from Manila to Subic.

My son actually complaint of HOT AIR blowing on the rear vents even if the DUAL is not ON

I have no choice but to send the car back on Monday.

Not to mention I found 3 deep scratches on the paint job near the door sills I wonder what kind of Quality Control they have there???

Pasenger side weather strip was not install properly.

Rear driver side door weather strip was also not installed correctly....have a dangling thing on the end.

Given the many hands touching your Camry at this point, there is no way this can be returned to normal. I will ask for a replacement given that the complaint cant be fixed. Given that they do, I am sure there will still be other complaints like plastic and body scratches, etc. It will never be the same again and you do not want to pay for a headache.

At least we already have a Lemon Law in effect here... if they still can't fix it at least you can get a refund.
