or if you are going to park your car for long periods, push the fresh air in button (dunno whats that called) basta para yung air sa labas papasok? thats the problem of my honda city dati, when left re-circulating air, ang baho the next day, pero mawawala naman kaagad.

also try blasting your fan speed way up when the air con is already off (when you are nearing your home or destination) para mawala yung lamig ng aircon.

I've observed something similar on our 2007 Mazda3. But then Mazda3's are well known for their stinky aircon.

Here's something I've done to avoid the stink on startup (it's not so bad on the Mazda3, just faintly annoying).

About 3 minutes before you shut off the engine (say when you enter the parking), turn the A/C off but leave the blower running. It's even nicer if you switch the A/C from recirculate to allow outside air in. Run the blower on maximum, with the A/C off. This will evaporate any residual moisture.

Also, you can try running the blower at maximum and heater at maximum for half an hour (the car will get very hot... do this at home). If there are any molds or something the waste heat from the engine will kill them.

ok, so I did some little "investigation" earlier tonight and I turned on the A/C on the Camry and took it for a drive (since I have to go out to the store anywayz..)

so I had the AC on for about 10 mins and I didnt smell a thing. but it was cold as hell though! plus it was already cold outside at around 40*F!! I was freezin my ass already! lolz! but still, no smell.

    aite, peace.

I think the service people of the Toyota dealer which was visited by the T.S. are total a**holes, no way would I pay P7,500 to fix the A/C of a new car with factory warranty to boot.

I don't like perfumes as well napilitan ako sa bahooooo.

I used to own a Mazda 3 2007 and the AC stinks but trust me the camry is 10x worst.

I got a friend who refer me to bicutan toyota and they want to charge me 4,000.00 instead of 7,500.00 and they can do it in 1 days unlike 3 days of Toyota Shaw.

I will try the Toyota-Shaw-Ortigas next week.

I agree with you. The car now is running on heater for 30mins and I spray Lysol on the air intakes from the EXTERIOR which is suck all the way inside the evaporator.

I hope it work. I'm sure the lysol went IN from outside since I can smell lyson inside the car vents.

Sorry to report none of the above work at all.

The car was set to idle for 45 mins with heater at MAX with air circulation vent ON. The car was so hot inside when I got back to it.

I also spray LYSOL towards the end on the air intake and hope it will get rid of the smell overnight. But the next morning when I started the car smell was reduce but only after 2hrs of using the car the park for 2hrs more then started it again the smell was back.

I have now no choice but to have it service by Toyota.

Finally found out that this thread had been moved to the workshop.

The car is with Toyota Ortigas Shaw since Monday.

They confirmed the bad smell ---- like basahan with water yucky!!!

The reason why the car ended up in Ortigas-Shaw was I made a complain letter to TMP and they got back to me and advice me to bring the car to Ortigas Shaw.

As per the Service Advisor they pull down and clean the whole system and I think some guys from TMP went there today to check the case of my car.

I hope that they will fix the problem and give me back my car by tomorrow.

    I miss my car.

Just ask them to replace the whole AC system. up to the last bolt.

I would've or I'll demand unit replacement if I don't get full refund.

im glad you didnt pay for this. i think its time for you to find another dealer to service your car .

this is common with our infiniti suv and other nissans recently. do you turn off your car with the ac still on? or do you turn off the ac just right before you turn off the car? that may be the cause of it. try turning off the ac and leaving the fan on for a few minutes (or earlier than we normally do) before you turn off the car. also, if your car has a cabin filter, invest in a replacement filter with charcoal if possible. in my case i still smell it initially (if i forget to keep fan on longer) but much less than before.

Finally I got the car today and it's smells clean now.

They didn't charge me for the AC cleaning and I'm glad that they clean the whole system

I hope this does not happen again.

My usual practice is to turn OFF AC before turning OFF the engine.

I will now try to practice FAN for 2mins before turning OFF the engine.

We never had the problem with our SUV expedition or MB or CITY but it did happen with our Mazda 3 and Suzuki Vitara but the Camry has 10x more intensity in BAD ODOR compare to the two that had such issues.

From now on Toyota Ortigas Shaw would be my favorite service center.

It's Toyota Ortigas-Shaw (the one in C5) not Toyota Shaw (the one in Shaw).
