Opel failed more than anything because GM started to focus more on the Chevrolet brand. It also happened in India, Thailand and Indonesia. Also, the cost for bringing CBU Chevrolets from Korea is more attractive than an equivalent Opel would be. As far as Volkswagen goes, it wouldn't make too much sense to get a VW Golf for a price tag higher than an Audi A3...

you'd be amazed how much money people here are willing to spend to bring over a car they really wanna have. if some people really wanted a VW GTi, they would brought them over regardless of price

i know a guy who brought in a Mini Cooper after watching the movie Italian Job. that was years before there was a dealer here

he wanted the car. he didnt care how much it cost

again, the VW brand just doesnt appeal to pinoys. even if you the price the cars below Audi price

VW would need to spend tons of money to make people want their cars.

Unfortunately, its still to expensive for most pinoys that even if they do sell, they won't recover their investment IMO.

So lugi pa rin kaya mabuti nang sa grey market na lang sila or niche market tumutok.

Ayala did a good job with Honda. I bet it will follow the same lines with VW. Maybe they can bring in the Golf, Jetta, Passat, and Tiguan to match Honda's lineup of Jazz, Civic, Accord, and CRV. A Golf GTi will be something most car buffs will be drooling for.

Another possible plant na gamitin is China. Though I'm not sure if exclusive for the Chinese market yung plant nila doon. Cause BMW and Audi is exclusive for the Chinese market lang yung production. And may mga models din na exclusive to the Chinese market. These are usually the limousine models. In China kasi leg room is everything hehe

Maybe they can put into good use yung Jakarta plant nila so that kahit Amarok pwedeng i-assemble doon. Mas maganda kasi at least kahit PGA cars pwede doon na kunin yung ibang Audi cars since the Jakarta plant also assembles some Audi vehicles for the Indonesian market there. Maybe VW group should expand that plant so that assembly will be for the ASEAN and Oceania market. Samahan na rin nila ng engine assembly plant.

Amarok nila is assembled sa Argentina. For the global market except for Europe yung Argentina plant nila.
