    but an easier alternative that wont empty your wallet and reduce the value is to build a stroker motor from a stock 1600 engine (e.g. upgrade crankshaft, pistons, camshaft, carburetor, etc.)

    This thread made me remember an old video I saw about a US company converting VWs to electric...

    ZELECTRIC MOTORS



    I did a quick research and found that there are sites selling kits to turn your old car into a more reliable electric version.

    Only issue is the cost... However, some comments/forums mentioned that if you plan to use the car as a daily driver, then the costs are worth it.
