    VW-PH had a pretty good model lineup back then. The budget car model was the Polo hatchback with a 1.6L NA gas engine.

    The Jetta was available in 3 engine options (1.4L turbo gas, 1.6L turbo diesel, and 2.0L turbo diesel). The Jetta 1.6L TDI had two tranny options - 6MT and DSG.

    The Golf came in with 4 models (1.4L turbo gas hatchback, 2.0L turbo gas GTi hatchback, 2.0L turbo diesel GTS wagon, and 2.0L turbo diesel Caddy MPV).

    The Passat 2.0T was offered in two trims. A minivan was also available - Touran TDI. The Touareg V6 TDI was the flagship model and it offered a good proposition for a vehicle that’s basically similar to the Audi Q7.

    AFAIK we got the diesels precisely coz dieselgate happened. All of a sudden those Golf GTSs were unwanted in the EU and US, so we ended up getting them at a discount.

    Although I love VW and their german lineup, I wouldn’t buy their Chinese/SAIC models or kahit anong Chinese car brand, i will avoid as a matter of principle and patriotism.
    Marami naman Japanese, American and korean choices.
    That’s just me though.

    I haven't found the latest data but Volkswagen only sold 15 units of its new T-Cross in September.
    For comparison: In the same month, the two oldest subcompact SUVs/CUVs here outsold it. Ford sold 148 units of its EcoSport and Honda sold 28 units of its HR-V.

    Remember That Volkswagen Model Being Teased? It's Just New Colors For The T-Cross | CarGuide

    New colors aside, the 2023 T-Cross is exactly as it was before. No turbocharged engine. No special decals. No nothing. Heck, even China got a special racy version. For the Philippine market though, it’s just a fresh choice of colors for those who’re tired of the same one thing.

    Two years on, even with the T-Cross still not selling well, AC made the decision to INCREASE the price to ₱1.340M and leave the TOTL variant as the only option.

    VW should have already done a mid-cycle refresh.

    In AC's case, they should have lobbied for either:

    a) a cheaper variant with far less features + smaller engine and stick to ₱1.1M, or;
    b) go balls-out to ₱1.45M with the 150hp / 250 Nm engine.
