Inefficiency contributes to being the worst airport.

And a superficial solution to a systemic problem.

I find it sad that one of the former head honchos of biz development of Singapore's changi airport is a Pinoy. He was an important contributor to what that airport's brand is now. Matagal tagal din Siya namuno doon sa division nya until he decided to strut his stuff here (initially I think w/ one of the "oligarchs" that dutz hates). Not sure if that was the right decision though. [emoji28]

He's a Way better organizational dude than that controversial gma man who was the big wig of caap and NAIA and then was appointed by digZ to head the dept of energy.

Most airports around the world are switching to Automated systems for Immigration and security checks.
Our Naia included. Half are manned while another half is by an automated system.
Problem with the Automated system is a lot of passengers doesn't know or doesn't seem to read or preoccupied with other stuff to read the rules in the posters when using the Automated System kaya na dedelay. you still see airport ushers helping them. I see this in the foreign airports, not just Naia.

When we came back from a trip, there were similar number of pax lined up in the e-gates and manned immigration counters. But the line using the e-gates were not moving. Parang wala din nagaassist na airport personnel sa e-gates. Talagang under staffed ang airport.

Even our luggages, tagal din namin naghintay lumabas, considering ang tagal na namin pumila sa immigration.

it would seem, "understaffing" has been a chronic issue.
so why aren't the decision-makers doing anything visible to alleviate the problem?

they say that the airport is the first lasting impression visitors get imprinted with, when they visit the country,
and yet, we don't seem to want to do anything to improve it...

    i am wondering,
where do all the monies we pay at the airport, go to?

In fairness, it’s not only our airports that are understaffed and have long lines, when I went to Japan last January, it took me more than 1hr from plane to baggage claim.

It takes time to hire and train airport staffs, more so, immigration officers. But I hope they are in the process of doing that already, to address the surge in passenger numbers this coming Lenten season travel.
