PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has signed Proclamation No. 839 declaring Oct. 31 and Dec. 26 this year as special, non-working days, Nov. 28 as a non-working holiday, and Nov. 30 as a working day, Press Secretary Ignacio Bunye said.
Oct. 31, which falls on a Monday, comes before a regular holiday, Nov. 1, All Saint’s Day.
Dec. 26, which falls on a Monday, comes after another regular holiday, Dec. 25, Christmas.
Nov. 28 falls on a Monday while Nov. 30, Bonifacio Day, falls on a Wednesday. Malacañang apparently made the 30th, traditionally a national holiday, a working day and made the 28th the non-working holiday in line with Arroyo’s “holiday economics” policy, which merges holidays with weekends to to create longer break and encourage domestic tourism.
