hopefully hindi naman ako iiwan nung mga kausap ko don.. so somebody will guide me wherever I go..

if you have limited time, hire a taxi cab driver who knows the way around Beijing. went there in March 2000 and we did Tiananmen Square, Summer Palace and Great Wall of China on same day. ask the hotel, pero tama advise one of the tsikoteer ipasulat in chinese yung name hotel mo, places you want to see. ingat sa square, tried to have a picture taken beside one of the guards, nagalit. akala ko huhulihin kami eh

there is a flea market very close to Sheraton, parang Baclaran stalls stalls ang tindahan. dami overruns na designer items, super mura ...

may affordable books on learning mandarin, pero since Beijing ka iba sound nung salita na nila eh ...

actually, sa beijing ang pinaka maayos magsalita ng mandarin. sa shanghai, ang bilis magsalita ng mga tao dun, sa beijing tamang tama lang, ang linaw ng mandarin nila.

important things you need to say (correct me na lang, my chinese is horrible) ... thank you is Xie Xie, or Xie xie ni(more personal). X is pronounced "sh", R is "z" or "sh"(cant figure out the difference) and "q" is "ts" or something. dami pa ibang confusing words and pronounciation ... but becareful in saying the words because chinese have 4 tones so saying it in a different tone may mean something else haha. dati I tell our driver to take me to Quitai Lu(lu means road) yun pala when reading Quintai Lu, its pronounced "Tsintai lu" hehehe kaya pala he was scratching his head and he looked perplexed haha.

when in a restau, fapyaw(dont know how to spell) or mai-tan usually means bill or reciept pero I usually use mai-tan. shui(shu-wey) is water(important in requesting for water in a restaurant). yu(yu-u) is fish. zhou is meat or pork. mi-fan is rice. yang chow mi-fan is fried rice. da pang yu means big fat fish hehe. hong chaa means ice tea but it literally mean red(hong) tea(cha-a). i always use it to order sweetend cold ice tea. yi ping kele is 1 cold coca-cola, mahilig ako kase sa coke(not the drug, the beverage) hehehe. para masmadali, look for a restau that has a menu with pictures para ituro mo na lang gusto mo hehehe. ibang traditional chinese restaurants nakasulat menu sa chinese.

pengyou(peng-yow) is friend. wo(or wo-o) is me. wu is 5. ni is you. dont use er-bai-wu or 250. it means something bad, kaya pala walang item priced at 250. tumawar ako nun sa isang shop, sabi ko 250. bad pala yun hehehe. dont know what it exactly means. spitting is ok, normal sa china ata. unlike sa atin its offensive and dirty. people dont normally follow a line, singit lang ng singit hehehe so try not to be offended. once in mcdo or a fast food chain, nakapila ako, tapos may bigla na lang sisingit haha. nga pala, dont ask for a discount or makikipagtawaran ka sa isang item/shop if you are really not going to buy it. I made this mistake once and the lady was cursing me haha. bring your ipod esp in the airline or airport, an ingay lalo kung sabay sabay na lahat nagsasalita ng chinese. ah, eto pa when shopping for shoes specify the size in milimeters(mm). some are not familiar with US sizes. i know kase i love shopping for shoes
