Same happened to us. Went up to 60k without draining by previous owners. We wanted to flush but hard to find the shop and we no have budget yet at that time. In the end, we just drained. We feel slight to below average improvement in shifting though.

Our owners manual says to flush every 40k, iirc.

One shop we went to said that they discourage flushing specially if not flushed for a very long time. As per their experience, after flushing, it became problematic. I read the same thing here/other forums.

Their advice is to drain and refill every 1 week (forgot for how many weeks, maybe 4-5 times?). They claim that method is something like 'gentle flush'.

The shop is the one specialized in auto transmission in sucat. Forgot the name.

What we ended up doing is to drain once. And follow regular schedule or brown color atf. Money is tight. If we have the money, I will do the gentle flush method then regular schedule.

    Goodluck!

Pag medyo may edad na ang sasakyan annual na ang pagpalit ng atf to be safe. Drain and refill naman so hindi ganun kabigat din.

Every 80k kms lang ako nag dialysis. So far so good

Drain and fill.. is different vs dry fill(9.5L)

The old fluid should still look red though.

9.5L might be the total amount of fluid in the whole tranny system. In most drain and refill method for AT trannies, the amount of fluid drained is just about a third of the while liquid content.

You will need a dialysis method to change the whole content of tranny fluid.

Normal drain and refill will do if you are changing tranny fluid within short intervals like 40k km. If it is done over a long period, you can do the dialysis method. If you have no dialysis machine, you can do drain and refill in a multiple sessions until you have used up a total volume needed. On your case, maybe 3 drain and refill sessions.

Finally had an atf filter change kanina along w/ the usual atf change on my civic fd2. Mukhang ok pa naman and walang mga metal shavings na unusual according to the mechanic.

Ito Pala iyong in-line atf filter nya
