Drain and fill.. is different vs dry fill(9.5L)

The old fluid should still look red though.

9.5L might be the total amount of fluid in the whole tranny system. In most drain and refill method for AT trannies, the amount of fluid drained is just about a third of the while liquid content.

You will need a dialysis method to change the whole content of tranny fluid.

Normally draining doesnt require temps... maybe its a new thing.. but thats focked up as a regular maintenance procedure.

there is this belief by some mekanikos,
that a hot fluid has more dissolved and suspended impurities and gunk in it, than not-hot fluids.
hence their preference of draining when hot.

it's the same belief when draining engine oil.

Transmissions have fluid and metal. Thats it. Hot or not.. that metal wont rush down the drain..

some transmission require that especially those without dipstick.. sa mazda 3 service manual, it is required to drain the ATF when the fluid temp is around 50 deg C.

ATF kasi expands.. so you get more out when its hot..
