Without regular ATF changes, your AT will really suffer premature death.
Experienced it with my Mazda 3 as the previous owner never seemed to change the ATF. Replaced the AT and placed the proper spec of ATF (MV, not Mercon V or Dexron III). Now the AT runs smoothly and shifts very quickly.

November 11th, 2015 03:15 AM #13No its not my 1st car. Its my first bnew Automatic car, mileage is at 12k still a long way to go for the 40k mark.. Got fed up with manila traffic.
When i got my 2nd hand lovelife at 110k mileage, atf looks and smells burned. previous owner might not had any idea that it needed to be changed periodically. Changed ATF with orig aisin fluid, after a year or 2 of use reverse started acting up.Last edited by shibby75; November 11th, 2015 at 03:19 AM.

November 11th, 2015 10:49 AM #18Manila driving is considered in the 'extreme' side - heavy traffic, long idle time, pollution, etc etc. Kung hindi naman kamahalan yung AT fluid (Dexron III mineral oils are around 200/ltr) kahit every 20k palitan mo na.
I do ATF changes now at 10-15k, around 1.5k oil and labor. Crisp shifts and laging amoy bago ang trans fluidLast edited by ParticleX; November 11th, 2015 at 10:49 AM. Reason: double post

Every 40k km pala ang palit ng atf. Sa owners manual ng 2012 kia carnival ko sa normal usage condition no need to replace atf. sa severe driving condition naman every 100k km ang palit

December 3rd, 2015 06:12 PM #20Question guys.
Can I start up the engine after I drain the fluid to pump the remaining fluid in the torque converter.
Because I read an artcle that 50% of the fluid remains in the torque converter?
TIA
