just wanna ask is there any way or modifications i can make sa engine or any other parts ko to save gas?

im only getting 8.5 km/l , only 20% of it ang stop and go lahat highway, ako lang sakay ng auto walang heavy loads, 40% lang and a/c use sa bawat trip, slight open windows lang pag 'di naka a/c. pag pwde salida neutral mode nalang.

btw engine is 4g92 lancer glxi '97 w/ 120k+ sa mileage

    eto seryoso:

    1. pa-tono mo makina mo
    2. palitan mo all 6-8 liters of your ATF! including the filter inside
    3. palitan mo ng MT

Basing from the description of your car I'd say that there's very little here you can do .

A Lancer glxi '97 at 120k mileage is rather old. Maybe you can give it a good tune-up. Automatics always consume more than stick shifts even if they are brand new, how much more for an old one?

If you can sell it and get a smaller displacement second hand, manual type then I think you can be better off.

lower friction (narrower) tires would help get slightly more fuel mileage.

    would you consider using LPG?

Well LPG units IMHO can also run in GAS so you can travel to the nearest LPG station.

I think the thread starter is from Batangas and there are no lpg stations there.

dont step on the gas too much, maintain a sensible rpm rate so fuel consumption be regulated to optimum

i think 8.5/L is good enough (except if all you do is highway driving. para kang galant niyan).

    replace ATF first
tune up, and adjust valve clearance
    maintain correct tire pressure

    - change power steering to electric type.
    - change a/c to electric type (kung myroon )

or convert it to m/t nalang.

imho you can't make that significantly higher lalo na na matic ka pa. my friend's pizza glxi consumes only 8 km/l.

for me that's already a good figure for a matic. tsaka sabi mo you only do short distance driving sa highway. your figure might go up if you do long drives. short drives won't let the engine go to its normal operating temperature. masmalakas consumong gas pag mababa pa ang temp ng engine mo.

follow the advice of the rest and follow your pms.

not to discourage you sir pro malakas tlga sa gas mga matic na lancer glxi. we had one previously dahil gusto ni erpat mas madali daw idrive, the car was 2nd hand pro in very good condition nung nakuha namin pro nabdtrip si erpat kse ang lakas sa gas. i think its one of the penalties you will have to live with for easier driving. 1 month lang binenta ulit namin tpos balik kmi manual.

one of the reasons is that mas mataas and idle ng matic compared to manual, dun p lng youre already burning more fuel. its also heavier bcoz of all the added parts and the gearing is also different. it usually requires the engine with an A/T more effort to move the car compared sa M/T. in case of engines, all the extra work will also need more gas

tama si sir josh, you're actually getting pretty good numbers from your car already. if you really want a car that will get you at least 10km/l, i suggest going manual but if can't live without A/T, i suggest changing cars, corolla and civic A/T or look for the invecs equipped lancer, those cars have slightly better fuel consumption

Most logical mod? For 50k... buy a Kia Pride or a scooter to commute with...

Ganyan talaga ang AT... you're buying it for the convenience, not the economy. Kaya puro MT kami ngayon... more practical, if a little harder on the knees in traffic (and we see horrendous traffic on the SLEX).

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

tama! MT parin is more fuel friendly--kung tama gamit ko....the last mod i'll do.. AT to MT...

had a lancer 97 pizza before. city driving 6-7km/l depende sa apak mo at kung panay hataw. but sa hiway i can squeeze 11kms/L... maintaining 90kph and also every 5k change oil and plugs. on 40,000kms odo reading change the ATF with mitsu's atf.
