Yup, very different ang A/T at CVT fluid.
I have a 2008 City i-DSI CVT. I had my CVT fluid replaced when I hit 15,000km.
Anyway, I also read in other forums that switching from D to N and vice versa during stops adds to the wear and tear of the CVT tranny. Is this true?
My GF is having problem with her ride recently, Ano po kayang mga possible causes ng Flashing "D" sa dashboard?
1) Palit Knuckle arm Bearing (Front : Right and Left) - kasi may tumutunog kapag nagbe-brake at medyo gume-gewang yung right hand side wheel (then we just found out yesterday na tanggal pala yung turnilyo nung caliper kaya maingay kapag nag-preno).
2) One month ago, pagkabili nung car, pina-flush namin yung CVTF kasi nalaman ko na ATF yung nilagay nung previous owner. Siguro mga 1-2 weeks siyang naka-ATF.
Eto yung current condition niya:
1) Smooth Shifting naman siya, no jerking, no engine brake experienced (yet)
2) Gumagana pa rin yung 7-speed mode
3) Tried resetting the CVT (using the shifting sequence found in Tsikot) pero ganun pa rin.![]()
I'd really appreciate any inputs on troubleshooting and known shops na may pang-analyze ng CVT near Subic area.
Thanks in Advance!
mga sir,,, san mganda magpacheck ng cvt tranny... kc ung akin pag naka 30-40kph biglang nag tataas baba ung rpm... then worst is pag matagal n mag bblink n yung "D"... help naman po....
noob po ako d2... tnx hope anyone can help me resolove my prob.... tnx
Meron ibang klaseng CVT - yung pang mitsu at nissan na pang metal bands CVT which is different from rubber bands CVT fluid ng Honda.
Ordinary AT transmission require more frequent changes as the car gets older. Sa lifespan ng isang kotse (5 years or less) pwede 40K. After that 20-30K would be better for your tranny, if you want it to last longer. Older than 10 years, an annual change would be better (10-15K). Some enthusiast do it every oil change! wow mayaman!
Hello,
I would like to know more about this 'judder' effect on our CVT's as ours is experiencing this problem.
Honda flushed my CVT with their fluids and it went fine. But I noticed there is a 'lata' sound when passing 1500-2000rpm upon acceleration. Gone beyond that or after a few seconds.
Honda told me that they will need to dismount my engine and tranny to be able to diagnose the problem of that sound.
Sabi daw, baka flywheel that needs replacement or baka tranny failure which needed ng bago!
I can't believe this is actually what I am hearing! After all, I thought Honda's were reliable especially given that our car is just under 55K kms for the last five years.
Can someone help out on this?

Mga Bros,
Here's my problem with my Honda City IDSI A/T 2004 with 7 speed mode
1. Pag nag REVERSE meron grinding sound na krugggggg na parang umiikot grabee ingay.
We replace all spark plugs and reset the ECU but still andun pa rin yung krugggg sound pag naka reverse mode
ASk sa akin ni Doc Abet ng Honda Cars need macheck yung flywheel para cgurado or we need to replace a new transmission costing 200K plus
Please help me what to do mga kapatid need your advise here wahhhhh
sir i think we have the same problem,, yun city2003(iDSi) ko po ganito din pag nag reverse ka, pag release mo ng brake may kruggg sound din, pero di naman masyado maingay and minsan ko lang din naririnig, pina check ko po sa honda sta.rosa and sabi nila tranny nga daw po yun problema, need daw palitan yun tranny mga around 378k magagastos.. hehe mas mahal pa sa value nun auto ko, solution nila eh pinalitan ng CVTF, kaso pansin ko mas lalo lumala yun kruggg sound..

Natumbok mo din yung cause at solution. Maling CVT fluid results to failure ng transmission.
And yup change transmission sinasabi nila dahil walang makaayos niyan. Pero kung meron pwedeng ayusin yan. But we do not have mechanics with such skills or resources here in the Philippines. If you find someone who can fix it, swerte mo. Sa Honda they always choose the easiest way, that is replace the tranny. Most problems anyway.
Bottomline.....sorry change tranny is your best course.
Sir, you have to replace the solenoid valve. Now bebenta ko na this month bago tuluyang bumigay transmission which costs more than 100k. Will get the new city. Kaya binalik ng Honda yung conventional AT because of the problems with the cvt.
one more thing yung 7 spd mode ko di gumagana pag malamig yung panahon....
Hi! Sorry if I have to post same question here from http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67453. I have a city 1.5 cvt 2006 model too. everything was ok until recently. Nag-je-jerk sya minsan (very rare) kapag naka-full stop. from about 1000rpm nag-di-dip sya na parang tatakbo tapos babalik ulit sa 1000. I have to put it to N para mawala. Also sometimes kapag paatras ako parang nanginginig buong makina and sometime nag-je-jerk, stop mag-isa. Although bihirang-bihira din. I informed my SA about it and sabi kelangan daw palitan yung flywheel. Patanong naman sa inyo guys kung ano ang flywheel and should i have it replaced? im just worried baka iba ang problem or if ever yun, whatever that is, baka lumala pa yung problem. By the way, over all cost nung flywheel at labor is 12k. Should i go for it? I need your inputs. Thanks in advance.
I'm always checking out this thread since I own honda city i-dsi, been constantly reading about this issue, not sure if someone already read this one

apparently someone just got they're cvt replaced free of charge

I bought my Jazz in 2003 (brand new) and a few days ago I contacted my local dealer (Great Western Honda) to enquire how much it would cost to replace the CVT oil as it has recently started shuddering again. The guy informed me that Honda have extended their gearbox warranty to 7yrs and I just got in (bought the car in March '03). So the CVT oil change would be free of charge. I was stoked!
This morning I went to drop the car off and the guy there informed me that what they would do is flush the system, then test it. If the problem isn't fully fixed or if they think the gearbox needs replacing, they'll replace it, free of charge. He said that it would normally cost $6000. I left my car with them and went off to work.
Went back to the dealer at 5pm to pick up my car and they informed me that my car now had a brand spankin new CVT gearbox!!! I'm thrilled. They advised me to change the CVT oil more frequently, approx 40k. I'm probably going to change it every 30k. My car has so far done over 120k, and apart from this problem (which originally started at around 70k, but went away after changing the CVT oil, and has re-started again recently), it's a dream to drive. Of course I do take care of it, take it to dealer for regular servicing, only use V-power fuel, warm up engine before driving in the morning etc. With the gearbox, it's like a fresh start now, so as long as I service it well, it should last quite a while.
So my advice is, if your CVT is shuddering, and its been less than 7yrs since you bought it, contact your dealer. Because I bought my car brand new from this dealer, he knows my vehicle history and was able to see that a flush hadn't been carried out earlier, so asked me to come in. Also, all my dealing with them have been really good, and very good quality of service. I'm sure most of the Honda dealers are the same, but I'm very impressed with these guys today."
possible kaya na pag sabaysabay magreklamo lahat ng me same issue eh gagawin din ng honda dito yun? 7 years warranty ng cvt?

i mean pag medyo tipid mode ka pa sa gas tipong onting tapak lang sa gas un akin tumotope but pag inapakan mo ng nde tipid mode nde tumotope un engine..but ang lakas nman sa gas... kakaplit ko lang ng plugs ngk bkr6e-11 and oil.. but un tinanggal sa oto ko is denso plugs.. can u please help me guys? nakakairita yung sound tpos delikado pa.thanks
