follow up question regarding our cvt's:
how long do we expect our cvt's for fxt and wrx last long, given that we cared for it as what the manual says, stock, driven on an average of 800 km - 1000 km/ month,
do we have local reports of cvt failures ( on stock units) already?

i dont think there are thousands of cvt failures. just follow recommended cvt fluid changes...

No doomsayer, however, nothing is certain but CVT death & taxes.[emoji13]
You can only extend its life w/ religious periodic maintenance, proper use/care & lotsa prayers.[emoji120][emoji4]

so if you're CVT ride is parked at nabangga ka sa kasamaang palad (causing the vehicle to lurch forward or backward) or na-hatak ng mga beloved MMDA enforcers, sira na tranny mo?

Depends, there is a risk that the park transmission lock will be damaged.

Pag hindi makapit ang gulong at tumalon nun nabangga, safe ka.

Same as any other A/T, Dual Clutch, basta may P sa transmission, same risk. Its not isolated to CVT.

Parking pawl assemblies on ATs are a separate & independent mechanism.

Pansin ko lang pag naka P ako, tapos release handbrake and shift to D, parang biglang may something na bumibitaw sa transmission. Feeling ko bubulusok yun tsikot ko. [emoji23]

if you take proper care of it, i.e., maintenance and commonsense-driving, it may last the life of the engine.

if you abuse it to death... perhaps next week, it'll be... dead.

my first experience with cvt was a 2003 car with 100K km on it. cvt was still ok.

follow fluid specs. if in doubt, get it from the casa.
you can do it more often, but not less often.
