September 14th, 2015 02:46 AM #1There are not a lot of A/T trans cooling threads so I'll start a new one...
I need to install an external transmission cooler because we are always driving up the mountains and every bit of cooling counts. When doing high speed runs uphill eh the temp gauge is nearing the Hot position na.
I've already done a cooling system overhaul a few days ago - new rad, waterpump, fan clutch, hoses
My options are:
- a tube and fin 8 rows cooler similar to Hayden 405
- a stacked plate 25 rows cooler from AliEx China
Am inclining sa tube and fin since it is available locally plus space would not be a problem, pwede ko ilagay sa front grille, near the skid plate, or under the passenger seat with a fan.
Questions ko lang;
1. Will I bypass the radiator or do a series? Andaming discussion nito sa net pero I have not made up my mind. Daily driver ko rin kasi so it is experiencing heavy traffic. Am pretty sure na kung ibypass ko ang rad, malaki ang temps na mababawas, pero can an external cooler handle the load?
2. How will I install it?
a. if series
a1 trans > radiator > aux cooler > trans
a2 trans > aux cooler > radiator > trans
b. if bypass, will installing it in the front be enough? Or need a fan?
Thanks!
