do they have any difference mechanically, the 96-00 from 01-02 models (with extended bumpers)?

The itlog and AFAIK the pizza have their air intakes behind the headlights. IMO the headlight protected the intake from the bow wave. Happened to me once behind Cherry Shaw Blvd on my itlog and thankfully the engine didn't die

Older Lancers have their intake just below the headlight, inside the fender. This protects them from bow waves, but if you stop in water deep enough to reach the snorkel, you're dead.

Apparently, the Cedia Lancers have the hood level air intake scoop. Which is better, but once the water reaches hood level, you're dead. The guy got lucky.

Problem with most crossovers... they're taller, but the engine sits in the same place it would in a car... low in the engine bay (for better balance)... and the intake is at bumper level in most of them. Not great for flood fording.

People need to get it into their heads... di porket basta mataas ang sasakyan, mataas ang makina.

At tapos wala pa plate number?

Sanay yung Lancer. The driver of the car used the "bow" wave he created to help him cross the flooded street.
