if the rfid works using radio waves, and the radio waves are not effectively blocked by glass or plastic,
i see no reason why pasting it onto either side of the glass or plastic, would interfere with its function.
unless, probably, if the glass or plastic has a heavy metal content...?
or, the receiver in the gate is "not strategically positioned enough"...
or the gadget is sufficiently heat-sensitive and can be burned dead by a headlight...
or... the employed system is of inferior quality or design...
