Not necessarily. Before I bought a radar detector, I simple slowed down to 100-120kph whenever I am approaching a blind rise or corner in the highway and then look way ahead to spot the white vehicle on the side of the road. If none spotted, I accelerate to 150 to 200+kph.
It's practically the same even with a radar detector since I treat the detector just as an aid, another set of eyes to help me.

February 12th, 2012 08:48 PM #772Passed through NLEX and SCTEX on the way to Baguio last Friday.
At NLEX, passed by an NLEX pick-up with the hazards on, he was going to the overtaking lane and making the slow vehicles transfer lanes by flashing his lights and turning on the siren. He was going slightly above 100 so I slowed down and followed him. When he moved away from the fast lane I still followed him and did not overtake. We did this for quite a while, for several exits until he left.
At SCTEX I was following a Tucson and we were above the speed limit for most of the way. We passed by an SCTEX vehicle with what I think was an enforcer outside the car. I didn't see if he had a radar gun but he had a walkie talkie. At the toll gate at the end of the highway there were several enforcers looking at the lines of the cars. The Tucson in front of me was apprehended and issued a ticket. Lesson learned is to always follow the speed limit. Which is what we did on the way back home.

March 15th, 2012 02:50 AM #774Slightly off-topic:
From another forum..........this time naman sa Skyway
The northbound speedtrap is usually between Sucat and Bicutan. The LIDAR operator and one or two spotters baking in the mid morning sun.
If you're clocked over the limit, they radio ahead to the apprehension site where Toll Plaza B once stood at the intersection of Skyway and C-5.
On the southbound lane, they lie in ambush behind the bougainvilla bush where Toll Plaza A used to be. They radio ahead to the main toll plaza or Bicutan exit if you are over the limit.
They are usually there morning until 10 or 11am. Haven't seen any at 5 to 6pm. No guarantees though, so be careful.

March 15th, 2012 03:28 AM #775Why do they strictly implement this but turn a blind eye when cars hog the "Overtaking only" lane?

funny thing is that these people only target private cars...buses are not being checked though their speed is more than the required 80km/h...the other day going south two. batangas bound buses were speeding fast along slex there was a scanner under sta rosa bridge guess what? at the calamba exit we saw the car we are following was apprehended while the 2 speeding buses freely exited at the e-pass lane.

diba sa slex may bago nang way para mahuli yung mga overspeeding?
from one toll to the other, may average time na sila na maabot mo yun and if you go below that average time, huli ka as overspeeding?
for example, yung isang toll to the other one, may time na 21.5 minutes -- alam ko constant 100kph yung pagsukat nito. tapos if you go below the given time, counted as overspeeding ka na. pero kung above the given time ka naman, ok lang. they only catch slow vehicles who travel below the given min. speed limit through a radar gun.
nabasa ko kasi sa isang forum...
