NUMBER CODING STAYS IN MAKATI TUESDAY

    posted 11/06/2006 01:39 PM MONDAY

The city government of Makati is reminding all motorists that the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or Number Coding Scheme will not be lifted in Makati on Tuesday.

Department of Public Safety (DPS) chief Hermenegildo San Miguel said vehicles with plate numbers ending in 3 and 4 will be barred from city roads from 7am to 7 pm.

However, he said motorists can pass through national roads in Makati which include C-5, EDSA and Sen. Sergio Osmena Highway.

Motorists are also advised to comply with the city’s traffic rules because these will be strictly enforced by the DPS, barangays, and the Makati Police.

The DPS chief said that Makati’s UVVRP scheme contained in City Ordinance No. 2003-089, was passed on July 2004 by the Makati City Council.

“Being the country’s financial center, Makati has an average of over 777,000 vehicles during weekdays. Deferring the UVVRP even for one day will only worsen traffic situation in the city,” San Miguel said.

    a. Makati- EDSA, C5, Pres S. Osmena HW
    b. Pasay - Roxas Blvd, Edsa Ext

Hmmm... traffic isn't that bad at all today... Seems that the UVVRP scheme should be reviewed already (longer windows, minor cities to be exempted, etc.)

Seems that we have more disciplined drivers on the road nowadays. Lech* lang yung mga pailan-ilan na mga pasaway jan.

p*ta sakto nang yari sa akin. ilang metro nalang yung kanto bawal parin mag yellow lane. pinaka malupit mag swerve yung tunay na panalo sa 'pinas.

What should be condemned is that the MMDA and the City Mayors don't work together on many traffic schemes. Hindi mo tuloy malaman kung sino ang susundin mo. Kailangan mo pang tandaan na hindi coding sa Makati at Pasay.

The government or even Congress should step in and resolve this disconnect that is only giving the public added misery.

Ako naman na-traffic. Quezon Avenue and C3 around 3pm. Dapat talaga gawin nang centralized ang traffic management para coordinated.
