    I agree with renzo, not everyone wants their drive to be the most fuel efficient drive. Folks who take the Skyway, for instance, pay the premium to get to their destinations quicker than having to go thru regular, slower SLEX At-grade traffic. And by raising speed limits, you don't also demand motorists to all drive faster. You're just giving the option to those who want to take it.

    About having a lee-way on the speed limit, is there really a 10-20 kph allowance? SCTEX/NLEX seems to give an allowance, but SLEX/Skyway isn't as lax. I know, the authorities saying this is so is tantamount to raising the speed limit, but this is still similar in nature to giving motorists an option to drive reasonably faster.

    Not really bro.,- but that is the urban "talk"... Heard/learned about this when I was driving in the US on several occasions. So, when the speed limit is 65/70/75/80mph,- you can go 5mph faster....

    I guess, it stems from the fact that our speedometer reading is actually faster by about 5KPH than our actual ground speed (measured on the GPS), plus the inaccuracies when taking the speed of a passing vehicle, using the speed gun....

    What I do here is overtake at 120-130KPH, run for a while, go back to the second lane and reduce speed......

    The overtaking part I can apply in NLEX/SLEX, but not on the Skyway. It's still too short (and other drivers just like to stick to the overtaking lane). I just try and go with the flow (and lookout for someone sitting in the middle barrier).

    Yup, and I've been doing higher than 100KPH in SLEX for some time and never got flagged down....

    Maybe it's the magic e-pass (for SLEX)?....

    ung 100kph na speed limit I guess is the safest limit based on the study conducted here and abroad sa mga expressway. maybe it will invite or it will be more prone to accidents when it is higher than 100kph let say going 140kph and above. Imo.

    Yes, NLEX/SCTEX give that leeway which helpful if you drive regularly on those highways. SLEX should consider that. Try keeping your car at 100kph and you'll really get sleepy and irritated.

    At passing a car running at 100kph, i just speed up and get ahead of him as long as the coast is clear of possible speed checker vehicles. I also do what CVT does by going up to around 130kph and maintain it briefly until i'm clear of the car i passed then i settle down at cruising speed again.

    Hahaha! Ok bro....While overtaking and doing 120-130KPH, I count 1001, 1002, 1003.... until I reach 1030 (puwede hanggang 1060).... and then I go back to the second lane and reduce my speed to 100KPH...

    Yes it's too slow. My driver was caught overspeeding at SLEX at 112kph. Seriously! If we known we would be caught, we should just drove at 140kph! For me, the best limit is 120kph because not all cars will be driving at 120kph anyways and this should be legal on overtaking lanes. How can you overtake with the same freakin speed? Accidents occur mostly during sudden braking and it won't save you even if your speed is 100kph, but this is a different issue.

    Aren't the speed guns placed on a fixed location along SLEX? We don't frequent SLEX so we don't know the placements right now. But in NLEX, we have an idea on the placement so we can get away with it.:D

    Nope. Speed guns are handheld by officers inside pick-ups parked along the side of the highway.

    My trick:

    Yung kasamahan ko na nasa passenger side spotter kung merong unmarked white pick-up/Innova na naka-parada sa gilid.

    And if may parang overpass whatever you call it, baba muna ako sa 100kph kasi baka may naka-tago right behind the walls of the said structure.

    Nope. The speedguns are mobile. Usually deployed with an unmarked (white) vehicle like an AUV or 4-door pickup.

    SLEX uses laser speed guns to measure your speed (and take your vehicle's picture at the same time) as evidence. The CCTV cameras are used to monitor the highway for trouble like accidents, etc.

    i think 100kph is more than enough, pero sa Macapagal, masyadong mabagal ang 60kph...
