Mine is the 3.0 4x4. Fuel consumption is around 7.5 km/l. Usually spirited driving uphill and downhill here in Baguio. 4x2 Fort G should have a better FC specially now that it is VNT equipped. The 3.0 V is on four-wheel drive all the time so it consumes more fuel. Was also considering the Monty GTV when my wife and I were looking for a 7-seater SUV. Although mas maraming features ang Monty, we ended up choosing the 3.0 Fort because I feel that the Fort is built better than the Monty. I also have a 3.2 Strada, by the way. Aside from the build quality, outside noise insulation is also better. The interior, as you've already mentioned, is also better. The rear passenger window of the Fort can be opened all the way down whereas the Monty's rear passenger window has around 4" panel that sticks out. The steering ratio is also better on the Fort. What I like sa Monty is the seat storage configuration, 5-speed AT with paddle shift, heater sa aircon, and the familiarity of parts that I can interchange sana sa Strada ko
...If only the Monty GTV had the VGT 3.2 engine maybe I would have chosen that instead

October 7th, 2012 01:05 AM #732Hi Sir, thanks for the info, but medyo tight ang budget that I'm considering the 4x2 lng beside no use naman kasi mostly city driving ko lang sya gagamitin.

October 7th, 2012 01:20 AM #733Sir Brian, Sir G01, thanks for the good comments and I agree with your inputs. Haay bakit ba you can't win all features in one car...hehe. My 2007 Fort (gas) has no problem naman todate (durable talaga) except for the High FC. Kaya ito nag pla-planong mag try ng diesel. Monty na sana, except that I've heard a lot of problems and complaints. Of course meron din naman good comments. Pero ang pinaka ayaw ko ay yung pagi-ging ma-usok nya at bad interior.
Thanks again!

Just sold my 2010 2.7 Fort to replace it with a 2011 GLS V Monty by tomorrow for practical reasons. Admittedly, there are pros and cons but I tried hanging on to Toyota by negotiating with Toyota head office to no avail. I tried the 2.5 VNT variant just when the caravan opened the other day.
toyota - tested after sales service and warranty claims, interior is more comfortable, ride is rock solid, dealership near my place for pms, parts and accessories too many to buy
montero - better engine and suspension comfort, bwisit na sudden acceleration problem still persist as my neighbors 3 month old monty just hit the wall! good fuel mileage, better entertainment system, good resale value, accessories are everywhere as well/ i will have to go to makati now for pms.
i will know the answer to my decision perhaps 6 months from now.

October 7th, 2012 11:56 PM #739sir kung makahanap ka ng sariwa na 3.2 GLS SE monterosport nice interior (leather seats, climate control etc)
yun na lang kunin mo. but for sure mas mataas value nun since rare po iyon unit
kaya ma-usok yun monterosport na 2.5 because of still 4D56 engine oldschool engine na enhancement lang ginagawa.
Mitsubishi Astron engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
