Notice how various media reviews is in-line with Toyota's marketing on "offers excellent stability and a smoother ride". In reality, the media have nothing new to add bec. it is beginning to look and sound like nothing has been "improved". Don't bite the hand that feeds you. Media personnel are too afraid of losing all those "sumptuous" perks (food, tours, entertainment, lodging, etc...), test drives, etc...that an honest from the gut review cannot be expected from them.

You can say that again
unfortunately those perks does influence the verdict of a review that is why it is utterly important for us buyers to take those with a grain of salt.
I'd rather be highly critical than extremely gullible.
For me the best source of feedback would be from actual owners and a good test drive.

Sana someone or some group (e.g., The Fortuner Club, TMPI, Top Gear, C' Magazine, or motioncars.com) can organize an actual test drive or COMPARO of the 3 Toyota Fortuner sub-models (i.e., the original sub-model introduced in 2005; the 09 facelifted sub-model introduced in late 2008 or during the 1st half of 2009; and the 09 upgraded sub-model introduced during the 2nd half of 2009) so that everyone will know the true score on the ride quality of the 3 sub-models.Any takers?

Take time to watch this very good review of the 2009 Fort in off-road mode done in South Africa. Towards the end of the video, interestingly enough, the host suggests to replace the 17" wheels back to 16"s with meatier tires.

Also take note of his theory on the Fort's sensitivity to tire pressures. Draw your own conclusions.

Actually the presentor is the author of the website 4xforum.com, it's an independent site that is dedicated to four wheeling in South Africa.
The site has been reviewing vehicles, equipment and whathaveyou 4x4 topics since the mid-90's. The author also has about a dozen books that I was able to find in National Bookstore before.
This guy really knows his stuff
