August 5th, 2005 11:16 PM #1001I sometimes hear grinding noise and high frequency squeaks during braking from our RAV4. The coarse feeling is also felt on the brake pedals. And sometimes gear engagement is not so smooth, especially during low speed engine braking on a downhill. Mukhang unti-unti nang lumalabas problema ng RAV4 sa unit namin. Is this really normal, the fact that our RAV4 has only ran 22000kms? Ano kaya mga specific or usual problems na lalabas during this period?

squeaks? baka malapit na mapudpod ang brake pads mo... nagpalit ako ng brake pads at around 25K.
btw, am already pushing 50K on my Rav4.
some new problems:
> faint whining noise when putting into the 1st gear
> squeaking noise from the seats

sir mazda. sa tranny problems, have you change your tranny's gear oil? could be the synchronizers inside? sa seats, baka yung mga nuts and bolts lang sa mounts. sa drivers' seat ba? baka yung mga springs underneath.

guys, check nyo baka yun wiper assembly sa rear door yan. tumatama yun sa metal parts sa platic cover inside. what I did back then was add some foam inbetween the motor(of the wiper) and the cover. I just inserted it... no need to disassemble anything.

August 29th, 2005 04:47 PM #1006About the brake noise... sabi ng Toyota sira na raw disc rotors ng RAV4 namin. Eh 22k pa lang naman ang naitatakbo. They quoted me P24500 for the replacement of the two disc rotors infront and change brake pads as well. About the rotors, baka pwede naman ipa-reface lang? Isa lang naman yata yung may tama pero they insist I replace both. Safe pa kaya kung paresurface lang? Ofcourse, change of brake pads is badly needed.

Ok lang ang reface. Ayaw lang ng Toyota yun because it takes more time and they will just charge you the same as bolting on a new set of rotors (so you spend less of their time).
Kung hindi upod ang pads, you don't need them too.
Kung noise lang naman at walang pedal kickback, lakasan mo na lang radio. Unecessarily servicing parts can just open up a can of worms.

ei guys, has anyone of you here tried to take his rav4 off-roading?
medyo napapasabak ngayon ung rav4 sa light off-roading going to rizal / bataan. unpaved hilly / twisting roads lang naman na muddy / loose gravel / rocky. so far ok pa naman ang suspension.
