Me!
I've always used 5w-30 and 10w-30 from 2016 until the car was sold early this year.
I'll try to answer based on experience lang.
Power delivery sobrang maligalig lalo na when doing spirited at night compared sa x/xxW-40 , but i like the 10w-30 better though.
Noise, subjective lang pero maingay yung x/xxW-30 compared sa x/xxW-40.
Fuel consumption, yan na yung nakakaiyak from using thinner oil based on experience with 2KD. Sa xW/xxW-40 nakakaabot pa ako ng 6-6.5kpl pero sa xW/xxW-30, sobrang himala na yung lumagpas sa 6 kpl. (Average speed based sa info na katabi ng clock is 9kph)
Oil consumption, mas frequent kami mag-top up using thinner oil not sure sa quantity kasi weekly yung check ko so hindi ko na-monitor.
If i were to shop for engine oil for a 2KD now, 1st choice would be 10W-40 then next is 10W-30.

This is very much appreciated, thank you.
I am using Zic X7 Diesel 10W40 CI-4 and Toyota FS 5W40 CF before that. I'm considering shifting to Zic X7 Diesel 5W30, the viscosity of which is what is recommended in the owner's manual. I was hoping to save some fuel using the relatively thinner oil.
Though, I am surprised to hear about your experience wherein you're getting worse fuel economy with the 30 compared to the 40. That seems to go against logic. Mind sharing what motor oil brands you were using?

The super low fuel consumption was due to the engine being "maligalig" so there's a very high chance that you'll want to rev it. But you can try naman to control your right foot using xW-30 pero i was not able to do it na.
I've used the following:
-Zic X7 5W-30
-Zic X7 10W-40
-Petron Trekker Fully Synthetic 5W-40
-Shell Helix HX7 10W-30
-Shell Helix HX7 5W-40
-PTT Dynamic Ultra Plus 15W-40
-Caltex Delo Gold 15W-40
Pagkakaalam ko meron pa akong 1 brand na nagamit nakalimutan ko lang..

Sorry ha, just so we're on the same page... by 'maligalig', do you mean to say that the engine is more responsive?
With the Zic 10W40, I noticed na mas tahimik compared to the Toyota FS 5W30.... the only two brands and viscosities I've tried so far on this engine. As for fuel economy, medyo toss-up between the two oils. In fact, our traffic condition contributes about 90% of the factors that affects fuel economy and a change in oil viscosity seems practically negligible.
Still, I might try out the Zic 5W30 just because it's the recommended viscosity based on the manual.
I do notice that my brother's Innova D4D (with the TGFS 5W30 oil) drives a bit more zippy than mine. But then again, my Innova is 20k km 'older' than his.... another reason I want to try out the 30 oil.

Yes more responsive. Hehe i can't think of the right term kasi kaya i've used the tagalog term.
For me mas tahimik talaga yung 10W-40 especially kapag normal temp na. Advantage lang for me nung thinner oil is during the cold start kasi mas mabilis bumaba yung rpm compared to using thicker oil.
You can give the 5W-30/10W-30 a try for the experience. Nakakatuwa kasi sobrang responsive but trade-off lang yung slightly noisier engine.
Buti nalang synthetic oils pinag-uusapan natin dito kasi kung mineral pa, baka makwento ko pa that i've went as far as using 20W-50 on our older 2KD Innova

Balik mo sa casa, use Toyota oil and filter and follow their recommendations (except for certain unnecessary items like engine flush, etc.). This is so para hindi ma-void warranty mo.
If you notice, pini-pirmahan yung warranty booklet to make sure na wala kang ma-miss na PMS. Pag may na-miss ka kahit isa, medyo mahirap mag-claim ng warranty kung kinailangan.
