    that's normal.
but allow me to recommend my procedure..
"when parking, step on the brake when your car reaches its intended position.
then put the stick to "N".
    then apply the hand brake.
only then, do i release the foot brake.
then put your stick to "P".
then turn off engine and pull out key.

the "P" is not really intended as the main brake in parking. it is not strong enough, and can be damaged should the vehicle be forcibly moved.

and in some cars, the key may not be pulled out if the "P" position is not engaged.
wow. thanks for this info sir doc.. btw ang gnagawa ko naman ay full stop then hold sa brake then handbrake then shift to P. sometimes di umaalog sometimes umaalog sya. never ko pa natry ang brake N hand brake P. matry nga pag nailabas na sa casa si innova ko. ehehe.

tsaka iniisip ko minsan. pag nawalan ng preno. at di kumagat ang hand brake pag wala na si preno. sa shift to P will forcely stop the car? or masisira ang trans nito? minsan sa sobrang kacuriosan ko parang gusto ko itry ishift to P while running hahaha. :p

My 2008 Innova vvti automatic had some cracking sounds below the engine and the mechanic said the catalytic converter is the culprit. So the mechanic removed the catalytic converter and the annoying sound is gone. My question is, would its removal have an effect on the engine performance? I was told that the car has 2 catalytic converters, so the removal of one of them would have no effect at all....Is this true? has anyone done this to his car?...

and i never thought the innova had a catalytic converter..
oh well... we live and learn..

cracking sound..? there are many possible sources of cracking sounds.. in my home.. marami puno dito.. cracking branches..
so what did your mechanic do, cut away the catalytic converter, and install a segment of tubing and welding both ends ?
