I agree But according to my source, the 2.5Dsl engine can still haul the Fortuner well.

I hope they launch the base model 2.0L gas ... ready to sell my 12-month small car to experience a big ride ... too expensive P970k :-(

Any news if they are releasing the base 2.0L model in gas?

    Thanks for the help.

    AFAIK... walang ganyan.

IMO... there are lots of better alternatives out there than the Fortuner. We are starting to turn like SUV-crazy America.

Need space? Lots of good minivan & vans to choose from...

Need power? Lots of compact SUVs out there that'll run circles around the Fortuner...

    mazdamazda,
if i can get an suv or even a 4x2 basta yung underchasis is an suv, i go for it anytime over a minivan, basta d nagkakalayo sa price and the gas mileage is reasonable. suvs are really built tough.

i think so too. the 2.5L TDIC of the gen 2 pajero was also adequate even though it did not have the hood scoop for the intercooler and, i think, the gen 2 pajero is even heavier than the fortuner

i agree totally with 111prez, sigurado crdi na ikakabit dyan, so it should be more than adequate.

kung kaya ng 2.5 non-turbo diesel engine ng L300 van na kumarga ng mga mabibigat na delivery items with ease, what more ang 2.5 d4d turbo diesel engine.

Sorry if this has been discussed in earlier postings. I tried to look for any mention of it but couldn't find any. Does anyone know how much horsepower a 2.5L diesel Fortuner could muster?

For a price of PHP1.288, I am seriously considering this, rather than the 3.0L 4x4 version.
    Would appreciate your responses.
    Thanks.

    presumably... 102 horses (same as the Innova's & Hi-Lux 4x2).

IMO - the one with a 2.7L VVti engine (with 160 hp) is a better buy (it is even cheaper) than this variant.

    Max Torque____268hp/2000rpm______260hp/1600-2400rpm (AT)
    Curb Weight_______1800kg______________1795kg

The Max Power & Torque for the Fortuner come from the Innova's 2.5 D4D data. The Curb Weight for the 4x2 D4D Fortuner was derived by getting the difference in weight of the A/T Innova 2.0 VVTi and A/t Innova 2.5D4D, then adding it to the 2.7G Fortuner's Curb Weight. The exact Curb Weight may actually be a bit lower since the 2.0VVTi engine weighs less than a 2.7VVTi engine (this is not an exact science, so please bear with me).

Since, lot's of people say that the 4x2 Everest's power is more than adequate, wouldn't you guys say that the comparable 4x2 D4D Fortuner might be considerably adequate, as well?

Anyway, we'll have to wait for the actual specs, just to be sure.
Lifted the above from a post of mine in another thread...

Also, mazdamazda is right... The 4x2 2.7G Gas variant will offer you better value for your money and is priced a lot less.

Ano kaya fuel economy ng 4x2 diesel as compared to the 4x2 gas vvti? baka naman around 2-3km/l better in fuel economy yung diesel so that the price difference is affordable.

just got back from toyota WTC. nakita ko yung fortuner 4x2 d4d. overdecorated ang exterior ng unit. ang sa akin kasi kahit mags na 18" or 20" lang ang isalpak, ok na. yung kasi ang inuuna ko sa sasakyan, kahit wala na akong idagdag sa exterior.

nagtest drive ulit ako ng innova a/t d4d. pareho kasi engine with fortuner 4x2 d4d. satisfied na ako with the engine response, lamig ng aircon and ok yung stereo.

sabi sa akin ng toyota makati 8 units ang alloted this month sa kanila ng 4x2 diesel. number 12 ako sa list nila sa hopefully by next month matatapos na nightmare ko of waiting. :car:
