I'll be getting my 4x2 2.5D4d fortuner hopefully in a few weeks time and i'm really bothered by some comments of our fellow tsikoteers re problems with their d4ds, the so-called "choking" problem. it's quite odd for a new engine to experience irregularities. i'm afraid if a lot of d4d owners will soon experience this engine trouble then toyota might recall these vehicles. just want to hear your comments. thanks.

yeah, i think so, too. Remember, a 2.0l D4D was already fitted on the '03 RAV4 (although not released here in Phils) and if the D4D technology package is faulty, they've probably corrected it already.... I bet more on fuel quality.

    +1 on theveed's comments.

CRDis...while better than the regular diesel engines, need cleaner diesel because of how they work. pansin din ng mom ko, most of the CRDi troopers she sees here belch quite badly compared to our 4m40-equipped pajero.

bad fuel quality talaga, not actually the D4D engine itself.

i think toyota anticipated the problem and have already installed 2 fuel filters in the d4d engines that way the engines run smoothly and hopefully trouble free.

    IMHO,
The extra fuel filters are only band-aid solutions. Its better if our oil companies clean their diesels.

Diesel fuel is one factor but Toyota should know this! Im having this problem wd my Innova G diesel and my ODO reading is 5057 only. I also owned 4jx1 Trooper 65k na nagloko ang engine. Dapat kung hindi compatible ang mga engine na ito di sila dapat naglabas dito!Kung hindi pa kayo nakakabili ng D4D wag nalang kayo bumili.

Hi larshell, Did you ever put additives like biodiesel on your engine? coz so far my D4D is ok and I'm planning to put biodiesel once it gets 15K on it's ODO. My ODO reading is now 12K
