If it's just NLEX/SCTEX driving, a sedan isn't any less comfy than an SUV. Although over the weekend, I went to Bicol and the road was awful. Back then, I didn't notice how bad the road was because I had a pickup.
Good thing I don't drive to Bicol all that much anymore, maybe once or twice a year nalang. If I had to go more frequently I'd look for a truck or truck-based SUV instead.

Tagal! Stabilize as in below 1k rpm? Try blipping the gas to see if it cancels the startup procedure. Kahit naman whole weekend di gamit ang oto never sya ganyan katagal bumaba.
BTW I don't have an Altis. I'm just basing my observation on the cars I've actually driven frequently.Last edited by JohnM; May 14th, 2015 at 02:16 PM.

No question about that but I'm still wondering why it takes too long. I don't feel comfortable shifting into gear when the revs are high mainly because I cringe at the shift shock and imagine the clutches burning off a few layers every morning.
One of the main reasons of the high cold start rpms is to heat the cat converter and minimize emissions. Once the cat reaches operating temperature the rpms should go down regardless of oil temp.
I start driving as soon as the revs go below 1k rpm but at that point my blue idiot light is still on. On the Mirage it takes more than a few minutes of sedate driving before the light disappears. The Vios and the 3 take about a minute.Last edited by JohnM; May 14th, 2015 at 03:08 PM.
