I was wondering if the overheating problem with the 2LT is widespread? Or is it cured by adjusting the cooling system for our climate? Some say its a very reliable and strong engine for its size some say it sucks and its weak..Do you guys have any experience with this engine? Its a 2.4 turbo diesel 90HP at 4500rpm.
dont know pa, pero ung 2c-te ng liteace ko has 2 radiators, but the a/t drags it down...gusto ko na nga i-convert to manual,e....pagisipan ko pa muna...baka oil lang ulit...
Basta maayos ang cooling system,(walang bara ang radiator, functioning ang thermostat,etc) wala akong nakikitang problema sa 2LTE engine. Very responsive ang makinang ito installed in a surf. Parang gas engine ang feel. Very smooth and quiet compared to other diesel engines. Yung mga ibang nagsisi sa makinang ito, yun yung mga hindi nag preventive maintenance sa mga sasakyan nila. Gamitin ba naman kagad ng todo todo without checking the condition/fluid contents of their radiator,kaya ayun continuous overheat= head cracking. In our country, kahit walang modification sa cooling system(change radiator to a bigger one, etc), basta well taken cared ang cooling system, ok yan. This is based on my experience with surf.
Known sa head cracking sa UK at Australia ang Surf/4runner kse very extreme kung gamitin nila ang vehicle na ito. Majority of them use this vehicle for recreation. Katakot takot na trailing at abuse ang ginagawa nila to this vehicle. But you will notice alot of them will choose this vehicle over other SUV. Sikat sa kanila ito lalo na ang japan import. Check their websites and you'll see what im talking about.
Sir ponsi that was also on my mind maybe the people complaining were not very careful in maintaining their vehicles especially the cooling system. Im looking at the possibilities of putting a 2LTII in my wrangler. Is it quite in highway speeds? How about in climbing hills? Would you reccomend it in my wrangler?
2.4L turbo, better nga kung galing sa surf/ LC 70 prado(box-type)...alam ko may intercooler ito... may 2Lt-e, may computer box...pero ung kasamahan nito kalimitan matic, hard to find ang manual...
mas ok kung 3L-T na galing din sa surf, pero efi na ung last models...
bigyan mo lang ng good big radiator, ung may 6 or more liters capacity(mga 3-rows un for sure) di ka i-ooverheat..
kung makakuha ka ng complete engine,tranny,chassis, underchasis ( alam ko may term un, pero anu nga ba un?), mas maganda...pero be sure complete papers ha.
I was not able to find a skeleton in blumentrett..Skeleton is the term you were looking for sir yummy.I could use my existing tranny for the 2LT. My wrangler is only 2wd..Do you think it will match with my Hilux Differential?
Sir Yummy my existing engine is a toyota L. Match ang pangilalim ko kaya lang mahina talaga ang Toyota L at pang low speed ang pangilalim ko.Ang gusto ko sa 2LT ay may turbo cya at cyempre madaming piyesa.Ang laki talaga ng difference ng power output ng toyota L at 2LT lalo na yung 2LT-II..97HP ang output ng 2LT-II.
mahirap kasi mag-assume since may pagkaiba code nila although based din sa L block din...
parang case ng toyota 1c(1.8L), 2c(2.0L) and 3c(2.2L)...baka iba ung bolt pattern.. or either maliit/malaki ung housing..
so maiaadvise ko, maganda nyan dalhin mo nalang ung tranny mo, for fitting purposes, to make sure swak ang bolt holes pati na din ung housing...ganun nalang siguro maganda gawin para di masayang ang lakad nyo po...
another solution, buy mo nalang ung engine/tranny set, since L na ung luma mong makina, sure na match na yang diff mo... pero, mostly 4wd-a/t mga yan...pero kung may nakuha kang 4wd-m/t, ok lang din pero mag-aajust ka ng length ng propeller shaft mo(longer talaga ang 4wd tranny than its 2wd counter part) plus rare ang 4wd m/t na galing sa japan.
Sir pwede rin yta sabihin sa surplus shop na kailangan ng 2WD tranny. Cgurado alam nila kung ano tranny ang magmamatch sa 2LT.Para isang bilihan ano sir yummy? 2WD lang kasi ang wrangler ko.Nakakatuwa tingnan ang mga makina sa Blumentrett eh..Nakakasilaw eh!He He He!Eh sa tingin nyo ba Sir Yummy ok ba ang 2LT sa wrangler?
kaya naman siguro..e kung ung heavier lc 70/ hilux surf/ hiace kayang kaya, what more pa kaya ung wrangler na assembled, diba?
pwede siguro, pahanap ka na din ng tranny na magkakasya para isang biyahe nalang din...by experience ko kasi, pag bumili ka ng engine w/tranny vs. engine lang vs. engine+pahanap ng tranny ganito:
price ng engine w/tranny will be lessen by 3-6 thou only kung paalis mo ung tranny...
price ng engine w/tranny baka mas mura pa kung papahanapin mo pa ng fitting 2wd tranny...
pero baka makatipid ka ng pesos kung sakaling nagkasya na agad ung old tranny mo sa new engine mo...
Sir yummy I wanna try to find a tranny to put on the 2LT which is a little bit shorter than my present tranny.The newer trannys like the one found on the newer hilux's with the 2L engine are a little shorter.On my present tranny the gear shifter is found all the way towards the end of the tranny which sometimes rubs against the seat. Sir Yummy how would you compare the 2LT over the 4D56T?
havent had kasi ng 2LT...mines now a liteace 4wd w/2c-t, 2.0 turbo and my former ride is a 4d56t delica 4wd.. sa performance, ung 4d56 talaga is still reliable and easier to maintain than the 2ct...plus torquer ang 4d56t kaysa sa 2ct, but 2ct is uses less fuel and oil!
about sa 2L, i can only speculate, 2.4L halos siguro di nagkakalayo ng performance, pero ko as naka-experience na ng 4d56t, mas ok sa akin ang 4d56...
Ako sasagot sayo dahil pareho ko ng nasubukan ang 4d56tdic at 2lte ng surf. Sa response ng makina at acceleration maiiwan ang 4d56. So bitin sa overtaking ang 4d56, me kakupadan. Pareho madami pyesa. Disadvantage ng 2lte, ang hirap imekaniko, ang dami tatanggalin pag me ggawin ka sa engine bay, me kasikipan sa engine bay, medyo mapili ka dapat sa mekaniko na kakalikot ng surf at bka lalong masira nito imbes na umayos. Advantages ng 4d56, madali imekaniko, matipid sa krudo, sa tibay tingin ko nasa nagme-maintain nalang. Pareho matibay yang mga makinang yan. Sumikat lang talaga satin yang 4d56.
Sir ponsi im considering getting a 2LTII mechanical injection for my wrangler.How is its highway speed?Climbing speed?i mean inclined roads?Are you reffering to the 4D56TI when you say makupad compared to the 2LT or the 4D56 NA?
4d56 ang medyo makupad. Mapa-TDIC pa sya. Pero kung sa usual gamit lang naman ay ok na sya. Bagay talaga yang makinang yan dito sa pilipinas. Reliable yet economical. Kaya nga sumikat.
2LTE - Highway speed,Climbing speed,Inclined roads, Mapa anong roads pa yan, solve ka. Ganon din naman ang 4d56, kayang kaya yan. Pag me time ka ngayon halika sa bahay at test drive ka parehong 4d56 at 2lte engine.
Kung ako tatanungin mo, parehong ok yang makinang yan depende kung pano mo gagamitin at kung ano ang driving style mo. Hindi pako nakatry ng mechanical injection ng 2L. Puro 2LTE(EFI). Na try ko na din ang 1KZ sa surf, very powerful pero mahal na ang krudo e. Hehehe.
