I think you should consider adding fender flares to complement the bigger Fortuner rims and tires. If you are to upgrade to bigger wheels then you would need to lift the body, which is probably the most expensive and complex part. Add stepboard for easy ingress and egress. Lastly, paint the front bumper to match with body color, unless you can find gray fender flares in which case you dont have to paint the bumper since they probably match nicely. But let me warn you if you dont paint them, it might end up looking like planet orocan.

sometimes color-keyed bumpers are nuissance. i'd stick with black- even for the fender flares. and yes, stick with my suggestion before- street truck. unless you live in flood prone areas. should that be the case then there is the necessity to lift the truck. lift and new sets of rims/tires only. remember to get the 'negative' offset rims, to make it a more 'wider' look than usual.

you say, 200K budget? go on sir, sell your hilux and upgrade to DMax! nothing to fix. hehehehe. joke only.

for 200k you can make it look like a 4wd.

    1. fortuner mags wont fit your 2wd. yours have a 5 hole PCD 114 while 4wd/fortuner have 6 holes PCD139. a mags from the innova will fit.
    2. you can buy an adapter from Makna for the mags from 5 holes PCD 114 to PCD139 so that you can install mags that are offset.
    3. body lift it.
    4. fender flares ng 4wd.

here in our place may gumawa na ng gusto mo. from afar it looks like a 4wd to the untrained eye. but if you are a cr nut you will know that its not.

thing to consider when upgrading. with bigger tires
    1. acceleration will suffer.
    2. mileage will suffer.
    3. suspension components will suffer.
    4. clutch will suffer unless auto.
    5. brakes will suffer.

in other words its not a good move IMHO.

for you additional 200k you can sell your existing hi-lux and get a new or 2nd hand 2wd d-max for less. more power, safety features, all you need to add is the fashion bar that 4wds have.

    From Toyota Phil:

    Suspension
front - Double Wishbone with Coil Springs and Stabilizer
rear - Rigid Axle, Leaf Spring

    Well, back to the topic...

I think its quite expensive to make the J look like a G variant. May as well buy the G if you got the budget.

    1. First you got to add fender flares and paint them body color.
    2. Add a chrome rear bumper (the J does not have a rear bumper).
    3. Upgrade your wheels and tires (while you're at it might as well get one like the Fortuner-if like the stock look).
    4. Do a body lift or is that what its called?
    5. Add a stepboard
    6. Add chrome covers on both side mirrors.
    7. Add chrome inserts on front grill
    8. Add chrome insert on door handle
    9. Add front fog lamps.
    10. Add high mount stop light on tail gate.
    12. Paint the gray front bumper, body color.

Ok, I may be missing some more items but that's just to make the exterior look like the G variant.
They don't offer a rear locking diff for the prerunner there?

Assuming it uses the same suspension as the one that the original poster has then all he needs to put are spacers for the front suspension and a longer leaf shackle in the back if it's a spring under axle and he can lift it 2"-3". If the back is a spring over axle then he can put blocks for the rear lift. Is the RP Hilux the same as the US Tacoma? If it's the same then several companies make lifts for it already just check on Google.

Toyota Phil does not make any explicit mention of it. However, in the brochure it lists under drivetrain for the 4x4 variant, as "4x4 Auto Disconnect Differential (A.D.D.)". The 4x2 does not have this.

The high end G variant and entry level J variant both use the exact same suspension components. Their difference is their height and ground clearance.

The Hi-Lux G 4x2 and 4x4 has a ground clearance of 212 mm. While the thread starter's Hi-Lux which is J variant (Trim wise it is equipped something like a Tacoma Reg Cab) has a ground clearance of 181 mm.

    Hi-Lux G overall height = 1,810 mm
    Hil-Lux J overall height = 1,695 mm.

No they are not created from the same platform. Tacoma looks much more larger and muscular than a Hi-Lux.

Just change the rims and tires, messing with the stock suspension without proper supervision is like opening a can of worms. The J version of the Hilux is like a blank canvass, plenty of potential to be creative and make that certain statement. Take it one step at a time, get advice from the experts and you won't go wrong. Good luck with your project.

Make sure also to slap lots of mud all over your "truck". Real off roader think clean trucks are for p**sy.
