Toyota conveyed the press today to present their 10th generation of Corolla, this car has been a best-seller ever since 1966 and sold more than 3 million units throughout the world.

The presentation was made at the MegaWeb show-room and Toyota’s President, Mr Watanabe, introduced the Corolla Sedan AXIO and the Wagon version, known as the FIELDER.

As the 10th generation of a huge success Toyota was expected to propose a car that would stay at the top through equipment and safety systems. On these new versions we have some elements of the Pre-Crash System (available on the Lexus LS-460) such as the Radar Cruise Control or the intelligent Parking Assist.
    New car, new engines : a 1.5 litre producing 110HP and 140Nm and a 1.8 litre of 136HP and 175Nm. Both are CVT-i (Super Continuously Variable Transmission-Intelligent).

Design wise the appearance of the vehicle is sportier than before and elegant, this differs a lot from what we were used to with the previous versions. On the AXIO for example there is a “Sweep Cut Pillar” giving a nice and smooth look to the rear of the car.

Once again the designers for the Toyota sedans dissapoint me. From previous models to the current, they stick with what's safe for a general demorgraphic creating wonderful cars with bland packages. What's the deal, there are tons of subcon coach builders out there whose job's to make us go gaga over the next big thing. Even KIA currently understands what looks appealing even on basic small cars. Enough ranting here's my take on what's suppose to be the next Corolla X gen. For goodness sake won't a 10nth version deserve special aesthetics (like the 8genCivic)? Here I go again...bla bla blah.

boring (requires a couple of bodykit to make me smile)

coherent with their styling cues add subtle changes like emphasized contours and flowing lines, increased windshield and a sliced organic headlights. white chocolate anyone?

the style's more evident on darker shades

attention to detail will most often do the trick and beyond Toyota's comfort zone lies Toyota's potency ...ohh what a feelin...

There are a few thing you have to remember, the Axio is a JDM model, and JDM Corollas are usually blander than the export models.
for example, this is the 9th gen JDM Corolla...

    ...the ASEAN Corolla(Altis).

ive come to think na Ok din tong Corolla. kahit pano we cant deny na kahit plain jane ang itsura nito. isa sa mga tumatagal ang charisma ng otong ito.

me too, tulad ng dati gustong gusto ko pa ang Lancer GTi (singkit) at Nissan Sentra (B12 facelifted)over sa AE92 Corolla na sobrang simple ang design... ngayun id take the Corolla over the rest...

yung Corolla, like the current Altis, napaka simple, hindi panget, hindi mo masasabing pinakamaganda kesa sa kumpetisyon...pero ang porma nila is for sure HINDI NAKAKASAWA.

i wonder if it will come a time say at 2020, na mas gusto ko pa ang 01 Altis kesa sa 04 Mazda3 or 06 Civic?

tis funny, but I prefer the blander front end of this JDM than that of the Altis'. rule is, don't go messing with conservative shapes unless every elements will follow.

the headlights just turn me off whenever I look at it like it doesn't belong there. where did they get the inspiration from to create such an organic shape? I guess the designer tried so hard to follow the contours along the sloping grille. Nice try though

Ad agency may term this visual as the "dynamic angle" as in the best element of a subject looked like it's jutting out of the screen. They tend to make any image engaging and complex more than what it really is. Axio looks fast and mean from this perspective, yes?

back to reality shot, although I agree with everybody that Corollas one of those low keys but then again shouldn't the X gen's package design evolve from its classic aesthetic genre to a totally new specie to celebrate the icon? It's a big 10 and in all honesty- it needs to show some more claws and teeth apart from its performance and reliability to prove that it's no dweeb.

Note: I treat a car like I would a person. I may like her personality(***?) but hate her face... or vice versa. just kidding :-D
