February 26th, 2015 05:49 PM #1Been experiencing high temperature or almost overheating of engine and the water in radiator gets emptied fast if I use my car in the morning and especially if its very traffic and hot weather. But when I use it at night I dont seem to have these problems at all. Can anyone explain this issue and help me out on what to do?

February 26th, 2015 06:58 PM #2Irregardless of day & night might be a good idea to have the radiator checked for possible leaks. I once had a problem with my 98 corolla dami na kasing tagas. Had it repaired but after a few months ganun na naman. After I bought a surplus, have not had problems eversince.

February 26th, 2015 08:07 PM #4check your radiator or ac fan if its working. if both is working, then as joey suggested get your radiator check. if its not a radiator issue, you are looking on an expensive repair (engine overhual).

February 26th, 2015 09:12 PM #5can you determine if the thermo fans (located on the radiator) are functioning at all when hot?
You should hear them turning on and off, and if you switch the air-conditioner on, they should both be on! If not then this is the issue and its a simple electrical fault.
Also, is there any cream coloured sludge being deposited on the inside of you oil filler cap? If so, this means you have a head gasket issue.
finally, do you get any white smoke out the exhaust when idling, if so then even more certain of head gasket issue.
Let me know how you go with these few checks.

February 27th, 2015 12:13 AM #6possibilities:
1. you have a leak. it may be hard to find, as there are many thingees around the engine that the leak can hide behind.. check also your overflow cannister for leak; it may be the cause of it all.
2. your auxiliary fans are sub-optimal. they may spin, but not fast enough... the air sucked in is not enough. or they may not spin at all.
3. your radiator is clogged, making cooling sub-optimal.
4. you have a crack in your engine block, or a blown head gasket.
5. etc.
have fun troubleshooting.Last edited by dr. d; February 27th, 2015 at 12:18 AM.

does your reservoir empty fast too? dr.d's correct, there are several reasons why a car overheats, but start from the basics.
a. radiator leak
b. thermostat malfunction
c. waterpump malfunction
d. too slow radiator fan
e. leaks from the hoses..
