November 24th, 2018 09:42 AM #691May nakakaalam po ba dito kung paano i-bypass yung headunit ng rush kapag engaged yung handbrake similar sa dd vsp error off ng honda? kailangan kasi naka-handbrake kapag maga-add ng bluetooth device or manonood ng video eh.

Doc what's your opinion on rebadged Daihatsus? Do you still think the Wigo/Avanza/Rush carry the same vaunted reliability as the pureblood Toyotas?
I'm asking because you frequently tout the brand perception of Toyota as a key factor for purchase yet you also acknowledge that the rebadged Daihatsus aren't real Toyotas on the inside.

Toyota owns a 51% controlling stake at Daihatsu, so i guess Toyota’s reliability should somehow rub into them.

November 25th, 2018 02:11 AM #700i do not believe that the mother company would wholeheartedly transfer all its secrets in building cars, to the new acquisitions. daihatsu probably got some help from toyota. that's a given. but in what department, and how much, i don't know.
my feeling is that toyota chose to re-badge some local daihatsus as toyotas, so that they will sell more of them. i also have this sneaky feeling, that re-badging is all toyota did. that the product is thru-and-thru, a daihatsu.
in other countries, isn't toyota letting daihatsu keep its identity?
i gambled on the wigo, because "the price was right". i also believed that toyota would stand behind it and support it.
and so far, except for a few minor chinks that i don't see in my toyota, i am happy with it. is toyota responsible for its reliability? is daihatsu reliable as it is, without help from toyota? i don't know.
corporate thinking. it's probably a lot more complicated to those who weren't in on the courtship.Last edited by dr. d; November 25th, 2018 at 03:08 AM.
