September 25th, 2018 09:57 PM #613I suppose you are half right and he is also half right. I forgot where I read it but the gist is that the Rush has a monocoque body with a frame design built-in. Parang "hybrid frame" tawag nila. But for all intents and purposes, it's a monocoque body that adopts the ladder frame structure for added strength. We've seen this technique used in sedans too wherein the center tunnel was brought back in some instances to stiffen the passenger compartment.
If you look at the Rush's chassis closely, the subframe and cross members still form a very distinct ladder frame shape. And this is why the Rush's ride height is noticeably higher than its all-monocoque competitors.
Having said that, I still doubt the published 1,140 kg curb weight of the Rush to this day.

Gotta give credit to the author. He's the only journalist I know who had the balls not to kiss Toyota's arse.
Would not get myself a Rush personally. Too many better choices out there. The only person I know who bought a Rush is my friend who was an uninformed first time car owner and played it safe...

Well, Toyota does not seem to be in the business of selling fun to drive vehicles. They even had to rely on Subaru and BMW to remake their 86 and Supra. They are in the business of selling cars that will bring you from point A to point B in the least dramatic way possible.
I would see myself driving a Toyota, an Altis or Camry perhaps but not a Rush. Hehehe

For some people, buying a Rush is a better deal than buying a Vios. The new Vios is priced a bit high for a small car. In the case of the Vios 1.5G AT, it is priced around 15k less than an Altis 1.6G AT. It is kind of ridiculous knowing that you get a lesser car compared to an Altis.
