All New 2013 Toyota Vios (3rd Gen)

Based on this thread, and other reviews also, mukhang hindi na matipid ang vios, contrary to what it was known for? Kalevel na ng fc nya yung previous altis, and other compact segment cars. What about the 1.3mt, any feedback? Im l0oking for an everyday car and the vios/yaris is on the top of my list.

Mine is running at 13.5km per liter, mix of city driving the whole weekdays and long drive over the weekend from manila to batangas and back with 4 passengers including driver. My fc pag pure expressway (Slex then star toll is 16km/L. I'm using 1.3M/T. Extra advance of Petron yung city and shell fuelsave Ung pure expressway.

Anong route mo sir? The traffic that I experience everyday is 15-30kph. It takes me 1-2 hrs marikina to pasay (30km). On my diesel auv, i get 10kpl. Kayanin kaya ng vios ang 12kpl.? That will be a deal breaker for me. Ako lang mag isa most of the time.

Jeez, that bad? Nakakadishearten naman. Puro short trips lang ba? Baka mas matipid yung 1.5 for its weight.

2nd full tank ko before doing an slex, star tollway to batangas and back
3rd gen 1.3 a/t 8.1km/l this was purely city driving
2nd gen 1.5 a/t 8-8.5km/l city driving lang no highway

Mines 1.5at G, dati 7-8kmpl lang, nung nag 7000km na ako, nakaka 9-10kmpl na ako pure city

This is what I do para tipid sa gas:

1. I don't "warm-up" the car before hitting the road. Pag start ko, andar na agad pero hinay lang since malamig pa makina. Staying idle waste fuel.
2. Shift to N, pull the handbrake, release the brake when stopped in traffic.
3. Maintain a speed of less than 70kms/hr. Pag may bumubuntot sa likod ko na nagmamadali (lalo na taxi), binabagalan ko lalo para mag overtake sya.
4. From stop, press gas slightly, release then press again, repeat until ma achieve mo yung desired speed mo. Ang concept ko dito is you are instructing the automatic clutch to go up the next gear level. Not sure if that works, but it seems to do.
5. Weekly check yung tires for correct tire pressure (32 front, 30 rear).
6. Plan my route and avoid rush hour traffic as much as I can.
7. I go easy on the brakes as much as I can. That said, tina-timingan ko yung nasa harap ko especially pag traffic para hindi hard gas then short distance move tapos hard brake naman. The same can be achieved simply by taking my foot off the brake since the car will move forward anyway (A/T).
