the 25 S211 jet trainers were acquired in the late 1980s and early 1990s. the contract was signed during the time of president Cory Aquino.

the sf260 aircraft presently operating are no longer the ones bought in the 1970s and 80s. the older ones were bought in the 1970s, the next batch under Cory and Ramos. the latest 18 new SF260TP were bought in 2011 by the present administration.

the same is true for the sokol helicopters. recent purchases lang yan, with the contract signed during the time of pres Gloria Arroyo and the 8 aircraft (less 1, crashed and undergoing repairs) were delivered in 2011.

BTW after the Edsa celebration kelan naman kaya ang air to surface target practice ng PAF? Their mission: to target the following government officials as follows:
    1. Honorable Sec. DOTC
    2. Honorable Sec. PCOO
    3. Hmm who else ???

The contract includes parts and support for the next few years as required by law. They are also currently bidding out spare parts and armaments.

had a chance last december to visit my old man's outfit during the 90's.

If we were so advanced during marcos then we should have F16s and F15s in our inventory but the best we got from the americans were F5s despite 2 bases we hosted

In fact the americans refused to provide marcos F16s & F15s due to human rights concern

^I think the more likely reason was the rampant corruption. Too much risk of advanced weapons falling into opfor hands. Kung human rights ang issue, not likely since they already heavily support Indonesia, Chile, Argentina, etc.
