this is really good news!
i just hope that he is made of steel. -or something like it.
we should be supporting him on this fight (it's going to be).
we are so way behind other asian tigers already.
i also wish that he could do something about our dumb traffic lights, they are so embarrassing, we are like driving in 19th century roads. lowtech!

I'm all for having a less congested road pero let's be realistic if were gonna slash down the PUV bus force to just 500-1000. Let's think realistically here:
We all know that PUVs are the cause of traffic. Not only buses but taxis, jeepneys and fx as well. Majority of use or sometimes use the bus to get from point A to point B diba? What I observed here is that eventhough we get mad at the public buses for causing the traffic eh we fail to see that every day, every morning, parating puno ang laman ng bus. Puno sila ng pasahero! It doesn't matter kung saan ang biyahe nila. People from all walks of life keep on using the bus as a primary mode of transportation. Why not the MRT? Simply, because you spent more of your travel time just staying in line and you get dropped off at the station unlike the bus which mostly gets you within just the next block to your location, sometimes sa harapan pa ng destination point mo.
Now, what are the pro's:
1) luluwag yung kalsada
2) less pollution
3) less accidents
Cons:
1) it will cripple the economy
2) half a million commuters will get stranded because of the sudden drop of the bus workforce. Not unless you're willing to use your private vehicle as a carpool to total strangers. Then that's colorum.(tama ba spelling?) We did that back in the US some years ago. Don't even think that the MRT is the solution.... it can barely cope with it's passengers now, papaano pa kaya kung halos wala nang mga public buses pa?
3) not everyone has their private transpo. Malamang ang mga nasa tight budget will most likely purchase a motorcycle which we all know cause more accidents in a day kaysa sa mga bus.
I think the solution isn't slashing out buses.... but to implement and execute a better standard in puv rules and safety. Yan ang problema kasi sa pinoy, magaling lang sa umpisa pero pag lumipas lang ng ilang araw or linggo balik uli sa dati. Gaya ng puv yellow lane na yan wala namang sumusunod diyan. Pati rin yung mga puv pick up and drop off point, wala rin. Kahit gaano karaming mga projects pa ang ma-implement pa ng govt..... it all boils down to awareness, discipline and follow through for both the govt and the puv drivers and operators.

I don't think the ordinary public commuters will suffer and might very well be even be benefited by the reduced number of PUVs in EDSA. The remaining buses will be operating more efficiently and turnaround time will be much shorter. Passengers as well as private car owners will get to their destination faster.
As to the the displaced drivers, conductors of these PUVs, hindi naman siguro puro bobo yan na wala ng ibang alam na trabaho. The good ones will surely find other employments or start small businesses. The bad ones will at least have to stop their vicious vices like drugs and too much alcohol which probably explains their rude and reckless driving.
LTFRB plans the same thing to the jeepneys, which is some routes are worse than EDSA. They clog the streets and their terminals are soon converted into one huge toilet and attracts not only flies and pathogens but also human lowlifes or criminal elements. Jeepney is a sort of microcosm of the Filipino culture and represents the worst among us. Though it is as symbol of our past creative ingenuity it also shows how left behind we already are. Unfortunately, many among us still cling to these traditions and mindset. Erap knows this very well because the guy has the mind of a typical jeepney driver as well as many among pinoys and he is loved and voted by these types.
Thank you!
