alam ni RSA di kakagat ang gobyerno

Just think kung saan nagpapa-gas Police cars and Fire Trucks natin, sa small players ba?

Gov't could have started their own fuel station close/inside Aguinaldo, Karingal and Crame if they wanted to. Sell the fuel at a subsidized rate since majority of the vehicles na makikinabang are Gov't vehicles.

    private sector ang price sensitive

private sector ang nagrereklamo kaya napipilitan mag salita / umaksyon ang gobyerno

And if the Gov't starts to sell cheaper fuel in Metro Manila, paano naman sa provinces?
ung theoretical ko gov't buys petron and sells fuel at a loss -- wala ako sinabi metro manila lang

Tama si RSA. No one is asking us to go to Petron.

Stations earn per liter sold. so an increase in prices does not benefit them.
small players took away market share from petron

Perfect example ang Petron West Ave and Shell Roosevelt.

doing this will kill the entire industry.

VAT nga ng fuel di nila kaya tanggalin... sell fuel at a loss pa.

IMO. best case is to remove the VAT on fuel
or just remove the VAT on fuel for non-private vehicles

there was a time the gov't had an oil price stabization fund

that was basically the government absorbing oil price spikes

    -

    why do governments absorb losses?

in situations where social unrest (caused by rising cost of living) can destabilize governments, governments will subsidize the private sector para di sila patumbahin

pero syempre governments can only do that until funds run out

I know... pero the "fund" will need to be replenished. hence di bumababa agad price kahit bumaba price sa world market.

fast forward to 2021... for sure the Gov't will have to sell at a higher price to replenish the "fund"

As I said. VAT nga di nila kayang tanggalin. taxed pa din ang hybrids and electric vehicles... tapos asa pa tayo na sasagutin nila fuel natin?

What I don't understand with our local "experts" is that they don't see indirect benefits to our local economy.

VAT-less fuel will mean people will spend more on something else. pera pa din pero sa ibang sector manggagaling.
Tax-Free shopping (Like Thailand, Singapore and HK) will mean more tourists, more spending

    Lahat nalang dito may tax!

Once a year lang ako nagpapagas sa Perron, kasi masipag sila bumati kapag kaarawan [emoji28]
All other days, sa Felix Ave, Cainta (Boss, RePhil, Petro Gazz) ako nagpapagas, last week nasa P52.65 ang 91 RON. Also, from Clean Fuel para sa auto LPG.img_20211109_172000.jpg

theoretical lang coz there was a comment in another thread regarding RSA selling petron to the gov't -- the comment was kung bababa ang presyo ng fuel

ang answer ko diyan is -- yes, if the theoretical gov't owned petron will sell fuel at a loss

Bilib din ako kay RSA even the idea of removing taxes from fuel he wasn't in favor of, despite the fact that it would fix Petron's problems and put them level with the smugglers (after all no tax = no advantage for smuggling).

He knew that the government would lose another important source of revenue if this was implemented kasi, added to the fact that we need that revenue now more than ever being in the midst of a pandemic.

That Makabayan congressman is a genuine idiot.

tsaka if buy a petron gas station franchise laki ng puhunan kailangan mo bawiin so you need higher margin to make ROI

unlike investing in a no-name gas station low margin can make ROI

and if you see uno's station it's very basic kaya low overhead

    walang kaartehan

    ang mahlupet na tanong:

-bakit sa true qc napupuwesto mura fuel.

    - pati supermarket

yup. overhead costs which includes advertising, the high $$$ executives and the modern equipment (normally mas maganda pumps ng big 4)

if I remember correctly, pati "area managers" ng Shell and Petron are well paid.

Pero... believe it or not. mas maganda talaga additives na linalagay ng Petron, Caltex, Total and Shell sa fuel.

yung other players. basic fuel lang talaga benta nila

Gas stations with cheaper fuel prices [continued]
