The maximum speed written on the brochure is 165 KPH but I was able to reach 170. The Swift is very easy and fun to drive. Not a lot of Swifts here in China so I get the occasional stares from other drivers including pedestrians.

Things that I like about the Swift:

    1. The built-in radio controls on the adjustable steering wheel.
    2. 6-CD built-in changer. I only listen to CD’s here as there are no English broadcast on the FM and AM radio stations.
    3. Outside temperature gauge and the fuel consumption gauge on the dashboard.
    4. Digital full automatic air-conditioning with manual over ride. Philippine version has the rotary type.
    5. Height-adjustable driver’s seat that gives me comfortable driving position and all around visibility.
    6. Fully protected front cabin with front, side and curtain airbags for both driver and passenger.
    7. Touch-sensitive lift-gate release.
    8. Sporty 15” alloy wheels and I changed the stock Kumho tires to Yokohama AVS dB.

    Things that I don’t like:

    1. Swift here in China has the old 1.3l engine instead of the newer VVT engine from Japan.
    2. Rear drum brakes.
    3. No second row seating dome light.

I hope you enjoy driving your new Swift as much as I do.

You can also change the reading to liters per 100 kilometers by pushing the button found at the side of the fuel gauge. I prefer the reading that shows km/l. My swift averages 18 kilometers normal driving (60 to 100 KPH) and 9 kilometers per liter when I push my car to the limit (140 to 170 KPH) on the speedway. My swift is a 1.3 liter non-VVT engine with manual transmission.

The purpose of the gauge is that it shows you the fuel consumption based on your driving style. You can maximize the fuel efficiency of the swift by maintaining a reading with the highest possible number of kilometers/liter. The highest reading that I have noticed on my swift is 48km/l.

Sir, u mentioned that your swift is 1.3 in displacement? How much is the price? What we have here in the market is only 1.5 automatic priced at P750+. How is the ride? i know the roads in China are better than what we have here in RP. Is it as comfortable as other japanese cars like tha civic hatch or Jazz?

    Pogisofi,

I bought the Swift September last year. Price of the car is RMB 92,800 excluding tax. Total price of the car is 104,800 that’s around 681,200 in peso. The price would have been higher if it had been fitted with the original 1.3 VVT engine. Last January this year, the price has gone down by RMB 10,000 (around PHP 65,000). I guess sale of the Swift wasn’t good because many car buyers were disappointed by Changan Suzuki’s use of the old engine instead of the newer and more refined VVT engine. You're lucky that the Japan-made Swift with the original 1.5 VVT engine is the one being sold there. When I learned that the Swift here has a different engine, it almost persuaded me not to buy it.

The ride is comfortable and can take corners with confidence. I haven’t ridden a Civic yet. My car back there is a diesel Nissan Terrano which my wife uses. I find it amusing that my wife drives a big vehicle while I drive a small one . I was actually choosing between the Jazz (Fit) and the Swift. I settled for the Swift because it is a newer car and has more features than the 1.3 Jazz. The price of the Jazz is RMB 1,000 more than the Swift.

Right dudes. The Maruti Suzuki Swift...hmmm, here's the link (just to ensure I'm talking about the same car featured here).

    http://www.marutiswift.com/

    http://www.marutiswift.com/html/index.html

Anyway, the fuel economy is ok. Gives 14 kilometers per liter of petrol on highways and 12 kmpl on city/ town roads. In this aspect, it lags slightly below the Maruti Suzuki "Alto" (I dunno what this car is named your area).

    http://www.marutialto.com/

As usual, leg space is very minimal but slightly better than the Alto. I was also very dissapointed with the A/C. Guys- if you are an A/C fanatic, you'll need to change the compressor unit to a DESKO or a JETSTRAAB (if it's available in your area). The standard factory A/C compressor SUX elephant b*lls. The SAME problem with the Alto. It can handle Japanese temperatures but not the Thar.

Anyway, the suspension of the car is surprisingly good- way better than the Alto. The clutch and brake pedals are also very good. You seriously shouldn't expect much in terms of protection, though. If you're involved in an accident w/ a lorry or a bus, you're screwed.

All in all, this is a good city car, but it is still not much different from the Alto except for acceleration and suspension. Other than the differences noted above it's just an Alto pretty much with a different body.

It's an ok car, if you ask me. The price is really on the higher side, especially for the Zxi models (power steering, locks, cd player, etc etc). Here, the Zxi is priced * around INR 5,00,000. A bit too much for a small car. I'd settle for the Maruti Suzuki Esteem Vxi ANY DAY. The price for the fully equipped Vxi is around INR 5,00,000.

Again, I dunno what the Esteem is called in ASEAN- here's the link to the car anyway.

GM never sold Swifts. They might not have parts and diagnostic equipment for it.

Isa lang kilala kong may swift and mukhang wala din masyado interes sa sasakyan.

You can try asking the Suzuki Vitara Club kung alin ang favored dealership nila. They have their own forum in 4x4ph.com. Madaming dealers din ang Pilhino so iba iba din ang quality ng service.

Latest showroom ng Suzuki is Suzuki Caloocan. Nasa EDSA approaching monumento.

Suzuki Pasong Tamo... I think they share one casa with GM Pasong Tamo kasi isa lang ang may ari tsaka magkatabi lang. Does your Swift have the 2 year free maintenance check up promo? Iba pa yung 3 year/100,000 km warranty ha. Coz I have that for my Grand Vitara c/o Pasong Tamo branch.

i bring my swift to pilhino for pms although i bought it in suzuki pasong tamo. the reason is that i can't contact the sales agent who sold me the car (or i think she was trying to ignore me for whatever reason). i can't really compare the casa service in pasong tamo since i haven't had my car serviced there. my mileage is already past 11k kms and i am quite satisfied with the service of pilhino.

btw pilhino will honor the 2 year/20k kms free maintenance check up. for the 10k pms, they replaced the oil, oil filter, and spark plugs and i didn't pay a single centavo for it hehehe. hope this helps.

You don't have to contact your sales agent. You can contact the service department directly. If you still the number, just PM me. I called 'em up to have my 1st 1,000 check up for my GV pero sabi nila, sa 5,000 km or 6 months whichever comes first kasi naka-calibrate na daw mga Suzuki vehicles nila. I looked at the free maintenance booklet (not warranty booklet), you can have your car checked every six months in the first 2 years all for free

syempre iba pa rin yung may magaasikaso sayo para naman may maging liable in case may mangyaring masama sa auto. mahirap isisi yun sa service advisor baka dedmahin ka pa hehehe. pero since mukhang ayaw na magpacontact, sa pilhino ko na dinala since madami naman nagrecommend na maganda service dun. yup 2 yrs / 20k kms free service whichever comes first. satisfied naman na ako sa pilhino so right now i don't intend on switching casas. thanks.

12% increase?? that should bring the price to 800k above, for a compact car like swift, it would be too expensive

just love the swift. it's the closest thing to a mini cooper, my favorite car. opting to buy one, but then i really haven't made up my mind yet. if there weren't floods here in the philippines, and i wanted a fun car, the swift would be it hands down.

This is a model na imported from Japan.

Kaya you'll really have to check and ask them if the factory still has allocations left.

If not, then they are probably halting production and preparing to re-tool their facilties for the creation of a next-gen model.

Ask your Suzuki dealer again if they have info on that
